What is the most stable softmod OC on a 5870, does anyone know?? And anyone know where to get the bios?? I have hard time trusting MKVTech as their bioses have often corrupted my systems/cards?? Im just using CCC to have my 5870@ 900/1300, what is the highest you can go with 5870´s?? Anyone?

There's another thread for the 5870 BIOS http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=306272

How high you can overclock depends on how good your core is, I've seen many 1GHz+ screenshots of 5870's though.

ffff, I can't ATIflash on Vista 64-bit for some odd reason, keeps telling me to check my windows version. Tried WinATIflash the latest version, but it doesn't do anything when i run it. Isn't there some program that lets you flash the bios easily like some of those nvidia flash programs?

oh, lol, i'm such a n00b. Took a look at the tutorials, and I have little confidence in flashing the bios through dos. I'll just wait till the new version of rivatuner is out to exceed the current overclocking limit.

Just use AMD gpu tool (for clocks) and MSI afterburner (for voltage) for overclocking i got my HD5850 well over 1000core with it.

thanks again, managed to get my clocks as high as my user CP states, any higher and it gets unstable and freezes randomly.

You're actually a lot safer flashing in pure DOS mode.

a bit of advice if you are this msi bios with higher ccc clocks with your 5850 if your overclocking with these over say 900 core use msi afterburner but leave the ati overdrive locked and that way if it crashes or locksup when rebooted it will go back to stock clocks if ati overdrive is unlocked what happens is if say you ran 1000 core 1200 mem in a 3d mark then it crashes when it reboots as the ccc has much higher limits it will try and load the 1000/1200 clocks but at stock volts so you'll greeted by a black screen, what i did is go safemode then uninstall driver which was a bit of a pain, then worked out if you leave ati overdrive locked you can still overclock in afterburner but when rebooted it returns to stock clocks so i thought this would be handy to anyone overclocking these

but if I use ATI GPU Tool than power play doesn't work and card is fixed at overclocked speeds. Any way around this?

edit: nwm, I'll just flash my sapphire...

anyone know why RBE show that "this bios has been modified by RBE" while the ASUS bios doesn't show that.

Are you all hitting these number with stock cooling? I'm wondering if some 3rd party cooling and a VRM HS might score some even better numbers. Just curious!

I don't have a 5xxx series yet, but am looking at picking up a 5850 or 5870 and putting an Arctic Cooling unit on it. ..disappointingly, I'm noticing that Arctic Cooling doesn't make a cooler that fits on a 5850. : /

On stock voltage ~840 is very likely, I can do 860. Using MSI afterburner and raising voltage a bit (card still cold) i can hit 985.
