Default MSI 5870 unlock bios (core/mem = 1800/2600) - 10-06-2009, 10:49 | posts: 135

A lot of users is complaining about overclocking limitation of MSI 5870 in Afterburner, which is because of CCC limit by BIOS. So we will make a special unlock bios for 5870, you can flash into any reference 5870 card you want.
New overclock limit is core/mem = 1800/2600 MHz.

You can download BIOS here:http://cid-26aaa81850481d85.skydrive...%5E_unlock.910

Happy overclocking!

We used ATI official tool that provide to AIB to modifiy the BIOS setting and BIOS is digitally signed by ATI, sorry the tool can't be released publicly. And yes, we will apply it to MSI 5850 (also 2nd shippment of 5870, and future 5700 series).

We haven't receive mass production bios of 5850, I will release it once I have it.

I wouldnt advise anyone to use this bios.
it probably isnt official and there for been edited with RBE and there for breaking the hash and there for breaking ati power play or CCC

though if it is indeed legit and works then i see no point as most people will never hit those clocks ever LOL

The person who provided it in this thread is MSI rep. That's official MSI BIOS digitally signed by AMD.

This BIOS is digitally signed by ATI validation system, the system will check all the function in the BIOS, there is no way for us to pass validation if we break anything. (powerplay or hash)

But I agree with you, no one can ever hit that clock, but that's the point, right?

Does this change anything in terms of OC potential?

Been using AMD GPU Clocktool to push my card beyond the 900Mhz barrier, so wondering if this BIOS changes anything next to the "removal" off the 900/1300 Mhz limit

Did hit 1003Mhz already

Sorry, only remove the clock limitation, didn't do anything else.
But it's reference card, so I think there is nothing need to be improved except luck.
