If it's based on NV40, then yes.
    If it's a bridged NV41 or NV42, then no.

The problem is that there are different versions, called "revisions" of NV43.

    NV43, revision A1 can be quadro-modded
    NV43, revision A2 can be quadro-modded
    NV43, revision A3 can be quadro-modded
    NV43, revision A4 can not be quadro-modded

    So if RivaTuner says
    "128-bit NV43 (A4,..."

..then that A4 is the reason MAXtreme will not work.

    NV43 A4 is just like NV41, and G7x / G8x..
..not possible to mod, neither Quadro-modding nor pipeline unlocking.. :(

    If you have a NV43 revision A1, A2, or A3..
    then the Quadro-mod should work.
    But if you have a card with a BR02 AGP-to-PCIe / PCIe-to-AGP bridge..
..then Windows will still see the card as a GeForce, even if programs can use the Quadro features.
SolidWorks' RealView will look at the GeForce name in Windows,
and fail to start even if the Quadro features are enabled.
    This will happen on Quadro-modded NV45-based GeForce 6800 Ultra/GT PCI-E cards.
    Because the NV45 is really a NV40 + the BR02 AGP-to-PCIe bridge.

But for MAXtreme.. I believe that at least up to version 8, it will work on the NV45 card.

I have been trying to render something for a week, large assembly. Is the FX4000 still regarded as a powerful cad workstation card??

My buddy asked me if the professional systems are much more powerful then what I have if they would render allot faster.

This is my system: Geforce FX4000 softmodded per thread, Raptor Raid 0 drives, 2gb ram 667mhz, E6600 dual Core 2, and low end Asrok mobo (via chipset).

Was told that most cad packages dont use multicore processors. Should I have a motherboard that has multiprocessors?

What are big boys using? Are they really waiting 20 minutes for a render? and 2.5 minutes to load an assembly.

hope this is not too off topic

    Thanks R.

    @terrablader:
I can't speak for the "big boys" so I leave those questions for others to answer, but..:

It may be true that full multi-core / multi-CPU optimizations are not yet implemented in the interactive parts of the CAD programs.
    (The part where you model)

But I thought that the rendering process are so easy to split into threads that all renderers can use as many cores / CPUs that are provided to them?
At least both mental ray and RenderMan ProServer will do this.

Just open Task Manager, select "Performance" tab and make sure
"View" -> "CPU History" -> "One Graph Per CPU"
    is selected.

Then you can verify if both the cores are loaded to 100% when you render.

Big guys or small, everybody is waiting for good quality renders. The render times usually improve much more with experience than they do with better hardware - a well experienced user can shorten the rendertimes tenfold.
SMP support really depends on the renderer. Most of the renderer packages use multiple threads (hyperthreading, multicore or multisocket: it's all the same to them, since the actual handling of the threads is dealt on an OS level), but some renderers do not use multiple threads at all, so even 32 processor beasts equipped with quadcore CPUs will do no better than a simple 1 CPU 1 core computer.

Ok I am having a problem.
I just did softmod on my video card 6800 GT PCIe and I rebooted my machine. Everything it works till I try to run SPECviewperf 8.1 than I just locked and I have to restart machine. I tried different drivers ( 81.57, 61.77, 83.62 )but it did not make any deference.
Please I am open for any seguestions.

    Thanks

    Try using the 91.36 drivers.
Have you installed the drivers for your motherboard?
Do you have the latest DirectX package installed?
How about latest updates for Windows?

If the problem still exists, try testing the card with 3DMark 03 and 05 while watching the temps in RivaTuner

Well everything is updated, and I do have yellow questions symbol on PCI device but that should not be a reason for this issue.
I can run SPECEviewperf 8.1 with no problem even after running softqudro.
But as soon as I do this "Low-level system settings"
In the new window called "Low-level system tweaks",
    choose the "NVStrap driver" tab.
    Click "Install" button.
Now the previously "grayed-out" roll-down menus become available.
In the "PCI DeviceID settings" field, there is one roll-down menu
    - "Graphics adapter identification".
    Select "Quadro".

Do not run the softquadro patch!!!!
NV40 cards are modded only with NVStrap!!!
Use original non-patched drivers with NVStrap only!!!!
Next time read the FAQing manual and the sticky threads!!!!
