Wonderful news amd 6900xt matches rtx 3090 performance for less money , the gpu war has been initiated = Good for everyone as i expect for a price war to begin once this cards are release with the upcoming new game cyberpunk 2077 everyone would want to upgrade their gpus :) , it is very healthy for the market and costumers. Awesome !

I can speculate yet again that you would actually see some cards from AMD and mabbie be able to grab one vs the paper launch NV has served everyone ;) Also in EU where I also am :D

Will these be easier to purchase than the 3000 rtx series? Hope so. That 6800XT looks perfect.

Less marketshare than NVIDIA but I expect them to sell out fast for this initial batch and then it's going to take a while before there's more stable available inventory for those who do miss out on this first shipment.
Would be nice if that's incorrect but well we'll see in a week for the new Zen CPU's fare and then about two weeks after that the situation for the 6800's ahead of the early December launch of the 6900 GPU.

In-between then also the situation for the NVIDIA 2070 which I think is launching really soon with initial reviews up already.
(Unless the review and launch date was the same for October 28th.)

That Direct Memory Access (SMART MEMORY) feature with Ryzen 5000 + RDNA2 really interests me. That should do some wonders with latency and give a good reason for PCIe 4.0. Looking forward to a 5900X + 6900XT Nitro+ after Christmas.

Has there been any word on pre-ordering so far? Also, when do third party reviews land?

So I guess this turned out to be false:
    ;)

On the other hand, 1000 bucks is a bit steep for me, so 6800XT it's gonna be! Hopefully the launch will be a bit more substantial than nVidia's, so can actually get one...

I agree with you that 1000€ is a bit too much, but at the moment, at least here in my country, the 3080 is either out of stock, or "obtainable" for prices way over €900, and I don't think that going to change soon.

Those saying 6800XT will not even reach RTX 3080 and will be 400w... When even 6900XT is 300w GPU around RTX 3090 performance.. big lol

Now we also know the RT performance... and again // as I have said just one page back (and earlier / over and over again) the RT performance of AMD cards is faster than 2080Ti but slower than Ampere 3080 and up.
Here is the full article on WCCFTech....
    https://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-rx-...phics-cards-ray-tracing-performance-detailed/

TL;DR: AMDs implementation is roughly 20% faster than 2080Ti, Ampere on the other hand is roughly 33% faster than AMD.

It seems changing the RT benchmark window size will give a different score, but if using the default 1280x720 results in a score of 470 for the 2080 Ti instead of the reported 314. So we will need to wait for more info on what settings the RX 6800 XT used.

@pharma /// thanks for the clarification.

I still stand my ground // AMD will offer a slightly better perf than the Touring gen but obviously worse than Ampere :) We will know for sure once the first cards will be sold or given to some honest reviewers like e.g. Hardware Unboxed.
