Thank you TAT and u guys, GPU WATER PHYSX decreases my performance about 20 FPS..damn? game is so sweet. wish i dont hear same exact Voices over and over again..i mean enemy voices..HOSTILE SPOTTED..etc...damn good game..we need more DOWNLOAD CONTENT FOR THIS
Guys i found a PROBLEM on my pc while i surf web for JUST CAUSE 2 BENCHEs look at these shots pls. Belongs to other people. and this http://www.dosyayukle.tk/images/555_the_dark_tower.jpg and my shot Why my ram shows 1Gb and those guys have 4 GB of GPU ram? i think iam having same problem that i had months ago..driver problem...shows 1 GB of ram..it should say 4 GB on me too due reserved system ram..i will test it when i go home... it happened me on DAWN OF WAR 2 months ago.
Strange, should show 2GB at least if you use 32-bit, bit higher if you allow the OS to use more and up to 4GB if the game is patched to be "aware" of it. (The large_address_aware flag or what it's called.) On the other hand it might show those as the system RAM and yours as the GPU ram? (Vista or W7? some difference there perhaps?) EDIT: DXdiag might show it better as would the system properties or the "experience index" program. (Framerate difference, min framerate that is, would be due to Bokeh filter effect and the CUDA accelerated water physics as you said but that RAM difference is odd.)
32-bit limit as well perhaps, max is 4 GB although the last GB would be for the system, OS could be 64-bit and allow for higher (Which you probably use.) but the game is still 32-bit and has those RAM limitations. EDIT: This on the EXE could "solve" it, shouldn't affect anything but back up the original file first. http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php EDIT: To explain it a bit (Probably on the site as well.) it sets the "flag" in the program (Or .dll, some games need the .dll files patched as well like Stalker initially before being enabled in the 1.0003 update.) flag is large_address_aware and lets 32-bit software use up to the full 4GB on a 32-bit OS and up to 128GB (Or what the max is that the system allow, pretty sure it was 128 GB for higher-end Vista/W7 OS editions.) This helps very memory hungry applications (Sacred 2 for example or Oblivion/Fallout 3 with mods.) and can also solve issues with memory management (Vampire: Bloodlines, part of the unofficial patch since 5.x version something like that though.) if you have the RAM memory to spare. (2 to 3.5 GB being the limit otherwise with the OS using the rest, not many native x64 games available, even Crysis and Hellgate which are admittedly some of the only x64 titles, only uses it to enable more memory access, helped a bit in Crysis and particularly Warhead however there's no real benefit as such to performance or stability outside of available RAM.)
Months ago, in DAWN OF WAR 2..iam using 64 bit OS u know, in that DOW2 game, i was not able to use HIGHEST SETTINGS (64 bit only) ..i was trying to fix..then i found that in DXDIAG it shows wrong amount of ram..updated the drivers and it was fixed..i will check DXDIAG..and probably same thing... VIDEO RAM must be shown as more than REAL 1GB GPU RAM as SYSTEM RAM ADDED to it..thus 4GB etc...i know it must be 4GB...or something as i remember in DXDIAG.
Vista and W7 also uses a sort of "shared" memory although I'm not knowledgeable enough to know exactly how it works but it reports it all together under DXDiag, again I'm unsure how it's used by applications and games. (Obviously GPU memory will be preferred due to being faster and then moving to RAM, causing stuttering no doubt, and finally the pagefile which would be really noticeable if it happened although very few games outside of mods use this amount of VRAM/RAM amount, applicaitons like for rendering and stuff might use more of course.)
i just checked it and no problem at dawn of war 2..odd...will bench the game again... EDIT: still same :/ ..odd..shows 1023 MB
Perhaps it's just visual and DirectX diagnostic is reporting it incorrectly, strange indeed. (Is Windows up to date, if it's Vista SP2 is recommended, W7 has a whole bunch of leaked and public available hotfixes but I don't think I've heard of something like this.) (Most extreme would be a fault in the OS somehow or a damaged RAM chip, the latter would make the system unstable though so that's probably not the issue, BIOS update maybe needed as well, my own board had like thirteen updates for a number of stuff like bugs, improvements, stability and other fixes.) Also two DLC's have been revealed alongside with their release date. http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/63468
i opened a topic in steam forums about this and iam not alone..this must be about OS and game itself. but iam very sure everything is running fine . and i want to thank you for your interest Mr.Beckman and thanx for the news . i was asking a guided LOCK capable missile or something and as i see its coming
I don't know whether this issue I'm having is a result of the new Steam interface or the fact that I'm using CrossFireX but when I open Just Cause 2 it loads what looks like full screen with the task bar annoyingly visible at the bottom. Pressing Alt-Enter twice fixes it but it's nevertheless a nuisance. Is this a bug or something specific to my system? If it's the former is there a known fix?
Liking this game so far. Just started and at the casino level. The game looks beautiful on max all. I never played the first Just Cause. Does anyone remember C&C Renegades? C&C attempt at an FPS. Well I get this deja vu feeling when I look at some of the building surfaces and some of the soldiers especially at night. Clinical and flat. Does any one get what I mean?
