I never fully understood the "TN is crap" concept till I got an ips..

oh well, my office PC used to be sPVA (HP LP2275w) and I always thought its colors were better (doing 3d rendering, I found its colors closer to the printer output)..then I checked and it was sPVA..

Finally got to compare ips and tn side by side and yes, I now fully understand the concept lol

Its hard to capture the difference on camera, basically whites are whiter on the IPS and colors "pop-out" more :)..Ive calibrated the TN to the best I can but it doesnt hold a candle vs the DELL a factory settings :)

received my U2311H a few weeks ago..
did the same comparation as waway625 did, only that in my case was U2311H vs Samsung 226BW ...
    seeing is believing
    IPS are great
*i dug a little deeper ,U2311Hhas a E-IPS panel-cheaper but in every way better than a TN panel.

at its price, the u2311h is such a steal :) no reason not to look elsewhere if you are in the market for a 23" monitor imo

I'm looking at the pics on a HDTV right now & can clearly see a drastic difference. Much better whites & clearly the contrast if much better. Vibrant color difference would be a understatement. Thanks for sharing, it's always nice to see a real world example.

I'm looking for a new monitor but all i see is TN (Samsung LG, Asus etc).. at least on a lower price (under 300 euros). Where can i find an IPS model good/fast for games and movies..?

IPS monitors have higher response times than TN panels. You may see slight ghosting.

    Check out HP ZR22w. It's 21.5 inch 1080p S-IPS display for ~300€.

I want a monitor with 23, 24'. Yeah, IPS have higher response time's. That HP is 8ms. What's the fastest response time i can find on a IPS panel?

i have a 24" VA and yes, whites and such are much better than TN.

Altho i didnt upgrade bcs of the panel, just going from 1280x1024 to fullHD (and sometimes to dual monitor)

i have one of those benq VAs which are supossed to have big ghosting. But with AMA (anti-ghosting thing) i dont notice it anywhere o_O. All about personal sensitivity IMO.

Your TN was just crap, my G2400WD after messing with the colour settings looks as exactly like your vibrant IPS screenshot and no way as grey and dull as your old TN.

Of course my TN still has colour shift when looking sideways but that's no big deal imo and having a fast response without input lag is far more important.

Well, IPS displays are far batter in terms of quality and viewing angles. Anyway it comes down to requirement, if you need response time get TN else get IPS though I feel IPS are just good enough for anything..
