I was supposed to have 2 EVGA ACX 970 in my hands by now, but ended up that a guy before me in the proverbial "line" bought 30 of them! And so, that cleaned them out, and hence, no cards for me.

So once again I jumped to another brand which so happens to be the Gigabyte Windforce G1 gaming. I should have them tomorrow.. finally ffs lol

They run a lot cooler than the EVGA - eventually it's better for your system

Thankfully ive I pretty big case so I "shouldnt" have any problems.
I'm hoping mine will be here by saturday but that is.. er doubtful

I have a fairly large case (CM 690 II Advanced) but the card is 30cm long and longer than my old 6950 so it was a struggle. I have to admit I didn't check the dimensions and just assumed it would be ok but all's well that ends well.

I don't think you'll have any problems with the cooling though!

Ha, measurements are in. My case could fit a 40.5cm long card.

Looks like most are in favor of just uninstalling the old drivers instead of using DDU. I've had mixed feelings using DDU, dont know if it fudges something up or not.

I did just that and here's how I thought: One 970 is almost as fast as a 780Ti, buy two and you get something similar to 780Ti SLI but for slightly cheaper price. The only problem I got right now is selling my 780Ti SC ACX, they're not worth much any longer and it sucks to sell a card for less than half it's original value just 7 months later.

I ordered the Gigabyte Windforce 3 970 from Amazon, but I was a couple days late and they are out of stock. Has anyone heard when they should be receiving more?

Also, I was curious how the dual bios feature works if anyone could shed some light on that. Does it come with software on the CD, to switch back and forth, do we boot into a bios editor, or is there a switch you flick? Sorry for being ignorant, just never dealt with a card that supported more than one bios. I have flashed bioses on cards in the past, so I'm not a total newb in that area; just curious how Gigabyte handles it.

I can't freaking wait to get this card and OC the crap out of it.

I don't know it existed... There are no introduction/user manual, no disk, no free gift from Gigabyte :(

    ps: They are available online

You can probably find the odd one or two on Amazon, but expect rip-off prices. We'll have to just wait a little longer.

Just tried ocing on Gigabyte Gtx 970. Tested different benchmarks game and let unigine valley run for 15 min on 1542 boostclock. So far seems stable using stock voltage.
Im deeply impressed so far very cool cant hear the cooler at all on auto mode. Havent seen it higher then 62/63c and i think room temperature is around 18/20 degrees.
Anyone has any similar results on stock voltage? I think im bit lucky :D

Gigabyte claims all their 970 g1s were cherry-picked so not too surprising.. i guess. Anyway, nice now im even more annoyed I don't have mine yet. Firestrike score?

    Here's hoping for you too!

The G1s are selling for $450CDN here but my guy at the store gave me both for the price of the MSI Gaming which is $420, so saved around $60 which isn't too bad.

Had to spend an extra $100 though, but the G1s do look like superior cards over the EVGA anyway.

    - "Flush" heatsink lawl
    - better/less noisy cooling
    - Stock OC is higher
    - Overclocking seems overall much better (8+6pin vs 6+6)
    - Load temps are far lower

I like the fact that these ones also come with the backplate installed where with EVGA you need to register the cards and then they send the backplate to you in a separate shipment.
