So after comparing the default value against this one it turns out they are identical aside from the fourth value being 01 instead of 00, huh if that's all it takes that's very interesting, going to have to try this. :)
(Was hoping to skip the restart step by toggling scaling or VSR off and then on again but it turns out doing either of these resets the value so a restart is required.)

don't know for you guys but this method of getting VSR gives me way blurry picture. Didn't see officialy enabled VSR in action but this is way too bad for me.

I couldnt get 4k either with my 290.

Tried over HDMI and DVI>HDMI cable as well.
My Hanns G 25inch 1080p only has 2 HDMI and VGA.
My dell 22 inch 1680x1050 had DVI and VGA.
I could get above 2560x1600 work on it with VSR on DVI.

I can get 4k to work only with the modded driver.
with 15.3 or omega I get black screen with my custom registry tweaks.

I'm pretty sure you need the 15.200.1012.2 driver for 4k with R9 290.
I have it working with that driver.

I was glad to see it enabled, however, with this tweak I went from 100 fps in 1920x1080 and around 60% gpu usage on both cards to 25 fps in 2560x1440 and 100% GPU load on both cards in Ryse: Son of Rome. Isn't that a bit excessive of a performance difference? I will limit this method to older games or less GPU-hungry games, as for now, newer or GPU intensive games get an unreasonable performance hit. Aaah well, what did I expect from an unofficial registry tweak.. :)

Hawaii cmd worked for me, it showed some errors when running but I have up to 3200x1800 on the windows resolution thingy, also working with a dvi to vga adapter if anyone is wondering.

    The question is:

Is there any way to get 4K VSR for 290(X) on 15.3.1 exporting reg codes from 15.2 modded and inporting them after 15.3.1 ???

That's normal. Higher resolutions are for newer cards.

I have newer GCN than older cards that get higher resolutions (aka my card is newer than 280x for example and has gcn 1.1 if I am not mistaken)

    *Better cards then :)
If what's said in the OP not giving you higher resolutions, not sure what else you can do.

I have a 5770 in my gf sons pc.
Just for the fun I could try this on it.
I already do have downsampling working on his pc though.
1440x900 monitor and it runs up to 1920x1200.
    14.12 drivers on that pc.

I see 2560x1600 with a 16:10 monitor. Not sure why resolutions are so strict with different cards...

    Worked for me.
    Windows 8.1 x64, 15.3 beta, R9 280x.

But its pretty useless for now, cause there is no available 16:9 resolutions for me, and picture are blurry in 2560x1440.

Thats how it is on my 22 inch 1680x1050.
Im bout to test out my 1080p 25 inch.
I love my eyefinity setup. But I am seriously debating on getting a 25 inch 21:9 monitor.
Wonder how vsr works with a 2560x1080 res monitor.

What games did you try? VSR works better on some games, others not. Alien: Isolation and AC:R look great at 2560x1600.
