By the way, are Crytek planning on releasing a 64-bit executable for this game considering its memory usage requirements? Would that not improve performance further like 32-bit to 64-bit Crysis had?

Well suppose the fact i'm running 230k pixels less is one bonus considering i have even less vram.

    30-35c...alright for some, about 15-20c here :(

Did the high res textures not requite a 64bit OS, so anyone know if that changed more than the textures, at work, so can't check myself.

i hope that is true and their future games can come with latest eye-candy with the game in the first place, not a addon patch several months after

I think there's something wrong with the lighting/shadows in some levels with this new patch since I clearly remember this scene having dynamic shadows (the shopping cart, etc)in dx9 mode, yet as you can see in this screen shot, the cart is not casting any shadows and neither are any other objects. However at another level the dynamic shadows are working perfectly fine.

    Here's the pic: (DX11 patch + Hidef patch, all@ultra)

Anyone else having the same issue?

Pic of another level with dynamic shadows/lighting working perfectly: (same settings as the previous pic)

I get 70 to 80FPS AVG outside with no stutter all maxed with ultra DX11 1920x1080.

Averaging around 50-60 with ultra but getting insane slow downs whenever I encounter the tesselated rock rubble. Drops down to around 15-30 fps whenever I encounter it and very stuttery. Pretty much have to drop objects down to extreme solely because of those rocks.

Also think I'm hitting my 1gb vram limit at some points, as I get a brief stutterr occassionally when moving between areas.

Why don't you try a different detail settings and see what happens?

I got it loaded, played for 40mins... about shat myself from how awesome it looks and it crashed the video driver :|

I mean the game was still running in a black box but the driver just stopped...so I'm hoping Nvidia pumps out a new driver that may enhance DX11 qualities of the game. Perhaps even a DX update would be nice considering we haven't had one in a year.

    Since

    it's at least more likely.

I have no problems with it being released this late. But they should have been a bit more open about it that they needed much more additional time to work on it.

Sadly, and I know this from personal experience as I owned two for CFX, the HD 5870 isn't especially good at tessellation, being as it is a first-gen DX11 card, and its 1 GB of memory will almost certainly hinder performance further. You could try dropping down the resolution or turning off the hi-res textures to reduce the memory footprint the game uses.

I noticed this in the FAQ on the MyCrysis site:

    Hi-res:
    Recommended:
    o 64-bit Operating System
o Fast HDD or even SSD
    o Quad Core CPU
    o 8GB of RAM
o DX9 compatible graphic card with 1GB Video Memory

    Having both installed and active:
    Recommended:
    o 64-bit Operating System
o Fast HDD or even SSD
    o Quad Core CPU
    o 8GB of RAM
o DX11 compatible graphic card with 1.5GB Video Memory

Odd how they recommend 8 GB when the game executable itself is 32-bit and thus incapable of addressing more than 2 GB anyway. So what is the other 6 GB required for or am I missing something?

A 32bit app can use 4GB of ram on a 64bit OS on the other hand a 64bit app on a 64bit os can use up to 8TB :3

Wow this is the first game where I can really see the difference between one and two GPU's enabled.

There are people on the MyCrysis forum saying that depth of field only works on Extreme and not Ultra. Has anyone noticed this?

Go to the screenshot thread and you'll see that one of my shots has the new bokeh circular DOF and I'm on ultra.
