    This is an interesting point, I did my tests with earlier drivers modded by GellmaR and there it showed Crossfire Pro in CCC and also activating worked! A bit later, after Schoko modded a new driver I tried again but it didn't show Crossfire option.. As I sold my second card I didn't investigate the issue any further.. So this is kind of mysterious.. Anyway as I know there is no different CCC for Catalyst and FirePro, so maybe you can try the newest CCC..

    Just managed to get it installed on my Asus G73 with mobility 5870. Currently downloading SPECviewperf11 to see what results i get.

    Wow I thought ViewPerf 11 was something like Duke Nuke Forever.. Thanks for the info!

    p.s. look at that, very bad performance of FirePro V8800 compared with QuadroFX 4800 and 3800M, looking forward seeing your results.. Also CATIA benchmark looks very strange.. Will make own tests with my Mobility HD4670 and report later..

    Edit:

    Maybe R8xx softmod works and bad performance is driver related??

    I'm still downloading the specviewpref11. But i'd like to update on the youtube status as i've read some people get green screen when watching. I got it working by disabling hardware accleration. And i also have a grease monkey script "youtube enhancer" running. Works perfect for me. Will update the results when i can.

    I can confirm this, disabling Hardware Acceleration (pause video, right click on video, settings, disable hw) fixes YouTube.. Anyway it works with Catalyst driver, but doesn't have to be patch script related..

    ViewPerf download finishes in 20 minutes, damn server :biggun:

    The script does let you resize it very nicely. I gave up on SPECviewperf11, now downloading SPECviewperf10. It downloads but never finishes, i don't get it. I hope the same thing doesn't happen for specviewperf10

    Edit: Here are my scores

    Specviewpref 11 64bit

    Catia-03 - 5.74
    Ensignt - 3.12
    Lightwave01 - 17.63
    Maya 03 - 31.27
    Proc 05 - 2.79
    Sw 02 - 18.01
    Tcvis 02 - 13.12
    Snx 01 - 18.70

    Please advice, my system specs are

    Asus G73JH-A2
    I7-720qm
    8gb ram
    Mobility 5870 softmod to V8800
    Windows 7 home 64bit

    Smile_Gerard , looking to the above scores, I can say that

    *the softmod was successful for Maya, Pro/Engineer, TeamCenter and Siemens NX.
    * it is not possible to say anything about CATIA, Lightwave and Solidworks,
    * softmod is not successful for Ensight.

    Thank you for your response khogan112. Its at least comforting to know it partially worked. Maybe the script is not catered to the 5xxx cards to work properly yet.

    Not necessarily so.

    The problem with SPEC VP 10 was that it was based on very old programs and those programs had advanced too much - it was limited so after some performance point, it was not able to measure performance adequately. For example, Q FX1800 is equivalent to GeForce 9600, and Q FX3800/4800/5800 is equivalent to GTX260 at least - but the performance difference is very small.

    SPEC VP 11 has overcome this problem by using new versions of programs and using extremely big work loads. The models are so big, even the most powerful CPU and VGA cards have limited performance.

    To be able to say that it is not catered for the 5xxx cards, someone has to publish SPECviewperf 11 scores for softmodded HD3XXX and 4XXX scores. Maybe HD3xxx and 4xxx series do not have increased performance at all.

    I see, i say maybe the patch scripts are not catered to the 5xxx cards is because i read around and it was mentioned earlier. Perhaps there will be changes in the future?

    Choosing the right patchscript?

    Thanks for the great info! I've been wanting to do this for years, but for various reasons (I am on a Mac) have not gotten the right software to do so.

    The instructions are very clear, and I've assembled all the info I need, except the right patchscript. Shoko is using WinXP64 and a very current version of the drivers, which should work for most 1st-time newbies like myself, BUT I am using WinXP32 and ATI drivers 8.391.2.1.1, because I have older equipment (X1900 XT card (R5xx series) softmod to FireGL V7200) . His instructions state "choose the latest patchscript", but it is not clear if that is for the latest equipment/drivers only, or for older operating systems/graphics cards/drivers etc. In the forum on softmodding R5xx series cards, they are using older drivers (8.2xxx), and make no mention of modifying the atiogl.xml file.

    As I've seen other people asking for WinXP32 patchscripts, I'm hoping answering my question will help them, too. I want to know which patchscript to use and why I should use it. It might make sense to answer my question in a new thread, I'm not sure. I'm also wondering if or when to use the modified atiogl.xml file, as this problem has been happening "for years" and he mentioned it was a problem for WinXP32. Does that mean both his patchscript and the atiogl.xml file work for ANY drivers in ANY operating system? How do you explain the different patchscripts provided in the patchscripts folder of RivaTuner? Thanks in advance, hope this answers more peoples questions than my own!

    @Black Mamba

    First you need a patchscript for XP32! As I remember the latest XP32 script came from GellmaR (I think for 8.634 driver..), of course you have to get the driver the patchscript is made for! I think modding atiogl.xml is only necessary for some software, I never had to modify it when using CATIA V5.. But others can here can tell you about this..

    Check with SPEC ViewPerf 10 if mod was successful! (you can also get the latest version, but I recommend the old one as you have very old hardware ;))

    Anyway you can have bad luck and your card isn't supported by the driver then you have to search for an older one (and patchscript) or buy a newer card (e.g. HD3870 or HD4xxx) which also will get you much higher performance and better chances for driver updates (if you're on XP64 or Vista and up..)..

    Edit:

    Ignore the scripts bundled with RivaTuner, they are for older cards...

    I have a FirePro M7820 and I want to be able to install Radeon Mobility 5870 drivers! I don't do any professional work on my HP Elitebook 8740w and would like regular driver updates.

    Is there a patchscript for converting a FirePro into a Radeon Mobility?

    Hi all,

    I have Videocard :
    Sapphire Radeon HD 3650 DDR4,
    GPU clock: 725Mhz,
    Memory: 1000Mhz
    Memory size : 512MB,
    Device ID 1002 - 9598 PCI-E moded to V5600 on Windows XP x86.
    I need help becouse I'm not sure do I did it right.

    I made it like that :

    1.I download FirePro_8.634_XP32_86098 from amd site.
    2.After that I download and install Rivatuner.
    3.Next in driver folder I found inf file called CX_86098.inf.I opened it in notepad and edit the line as follows :

    from:

    to :

    and I saved changes

    4. In next step I found script for windows xp 32bit :

    edit line as follows :

    from :

    to :

    and save file as winxpx32_8.634.txt then rename it to winxpx32_8.634.rts and open in rivatuner next point file ati2mtag.sy_patching give me message :

    [IMG]

    I click Yes and I get information :

    [IMG]

    patch script log :
    Next I cut ati2mtag.sys file form C:\AMD\FirePro_8.634_XP32_86098\Driver\XP_INF\B_85955 and past it on the desktop, rename to ati2mtag.sy_ and past it back to B-85955 folder and overwrite old ati2mtag.sy_

    5. I uninstall old driver and use driver cleaner to clean all ATI files.
    6. Restart computer and install driver useing 'have-disk" method.
    7. Everything sucessfuly installed so I restart computer again and configure resolution.
    8. I open Inventor 2009 and try to do something and I get blue screen STOP : 0x000000EA(0x833F6020,0x88057750,0xBA4DBCBC,0x00000001) ati2dvag start dump of physical memory.

    Anybody can help ? Other programs like : CorelDraw,Autocad,Zwcad working fine but I'm not sure is there difference in performance between the original HD driver and the new moded driver.

    BTW, sorry for my English.

    Thx for understanding and help ;)

    @ CADCAT thanks! Since the patchscript I could find with the closest drivers were 8.293, with instructions for my card specifically, I might try to find the older drivers (somehow...)
    Would it be a mistake to use a patchscript for a newer driver version? Like 8.4xx etc?

    I found the older versions of SPEC Viewperf here;

    downloaded R171313.exe(ATI driver version 8.293 WinXP32bit) from a Dell site...

    I'm using Maya 2008, so the recommended drivers from ATI are the 8.391.2.1.1, but it doesn't seem to have been patched on this forum. Further, the x1900xt doesn't have an exact FireGL equivalent SO I should probably use the driver/patchscript combo that worked, instead of looking for the most current or 'certified' driver versions.....? What are the benefits of testing other driver/patchscript combos? Is there a danger? What are the ATI Omega drivers for, and could they be patched?

    Dear all,

    I was trying to mod my XFX HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 into FirePro V8700 however it didn't work at all.

    My configuration:
    1. GPU: XFX ATI HD 4870 1GB GDDR5
    2. Driver: FirePro_8.634_Win7x32_86102
    3. Rivatuner: 2.24c
    4. Patchscript for Win7/Vista 32bit driver package 8.634
    (schoko source: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=312673)
    5. OS: Windows 7 32 bit

    Steps:
    1. I decompressed the files and go to find the CW86102.inf file in :
    Code:
    [COLOR="Red"]C:\AMD\FirePro_8.634_Win7x32_86102\Packages\Drivers\Display\W7_INF\CW86102.inf[/COLOR]
    As I knew my card ID is: 9440, I replaced the following:
    Code:
    "ATI FirePro V8700 (FireGL)" = ati2mtag_R7XGL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9456
    and modified them into this:
    Code:
    "ATI FirePro V8700 (FireGL)" = ati2mtag_R7XGL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9440
    Finally, save and go to next step.

    2. Next, I open the text editor and copy the patchscript from schoko:
    [Common]
    SrcFile = atikmdag.sys
    BakFile = atikmdag.old
    MakeCRC = 1
    Packed = 1

    ;script for FireGL driver 8.634 _ win 7_x32

    Dst1_5 = 6A 2E 56 E8 4A AF FF FF C7 06 11 95 00 00 90 90
    Dst1_6 = 6A 2E 56 E8 4A AF FF FF C7 06 C5 94 00 00 90 90
    [COLOR="Red"]Dst1_7 = 6A 2E 56 E8 4A AF FF FF C7 06 56 94 00 00 90 90[/COLOR]
    Dst1_8 = 6A 2E 56 E8 4A AF FF FF C7 06 9E 94 00 00 90 90
    Dst1_9 = 6A 2E 56 E8 4A AF FF FF C7 06 9C 94 00 00 90 90
    Dst1_10 = 6A 2E 56 E8 4A AF FF FF C7 06 9F 94 00 00 90 90
    DCM1 = 00 00 00 00 FF FF 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
    As you saw, the V8700 is located at row 8, so I modified the Dst1_7 line into the following:
    Code:
    Dst1_7 = 6A 2E 56 E8 4A AF FF FF C7 06 [COLOR="Red"]40 94[/COLOR] 00 00 90 90
    Finally, save it as .rts and the patchscript is complete.

    3. I double click the saved .rts patchscript. It will come up with a patchscript window. The force FirePro V8700 capabilities was chosed and NEXT. It will ask for the location of the atikmdag.sy_.

    In my case, it is located in:
    Code:
    [COLOR="Red"]C:\AMD\FirePro_8.634_Win7x32_86102\Packages\Drivers\Display\W7_INF\B_85955\atikmdag.sy_[/COLOR]
    Select it and OK, it will patch the driver and create a atikmdag.old

    4. As the patchscript only generated atikmdag.sy_ and atikmdag.old but not the atikmdag.sys. I copy the atikmdag.sy_ and rename it as atikmdag.sys. This will replace the old atikmdag.sys with the modified one.

    5. I also downloaded atiogl.xml from
    Code:
    http://depositfiles.com/files/nv8i5wcqj
    It's used to replace the one located in:
    Code:
    C:\AMD\FirePro_8.634_Win7x32_86102\Packages\Drivers\Display\W7_INF\B_85955\atiogl.xml
    The driver is now reay to use.

    6. I remove my HD 4870 from the Device Manager and also the ATI graphic driver from the Uninstalltion menu. To be sure, I use the Driver Sweeper to clear out the ATI driver completely.

    7. As schoko mentioned, I disable the Driver Signing by using the command line method:

    Code:
    http://www.killertechtips.com/2009/0...ing-windows-7/
    Also, the Windows Update was turned off to avoid automatically driver update.

    8. After the restart of my PC, the system will detect my graphic card automatically and indentify it as HD4800 series. I then go to Device Manage, and manually install the driver by pointing the driver to a disk location:

    Code:
    [COLOR="Red"]C:\AMD\FirePro_8.634_Win7x32_86102\Packages\Drivers\Display\W7_INF\CW86102.inf[/COLOR]
    This is exactly what we modified at the first step.

    The system did recognize my card as V8700 and GPU-Z also confirmed that it's V8700. I restart my machine afterwards.

    9. I tried to run SPECperfview v10 and v11, however, all of them are so slow and keep giving error message. I also tried to run OpenGL test in Cinebench but it can't identify my card. My card is now seemed to be even slower than before mod.

    Can anyone tell me if I did anything wrong???

    I recently purchased a 5 year old laptop, with ATI Mobility X1300. Is this card moddable if so what card should i mod to? Another question is will it be too weak to even bother with for SW or 3dsMax? should I used V3300? or V3400?

    according to:
