Paradox Interactive and Obsidian Entertainment today announced that Pillars of Eternity, the role-playing game (RPG) inspired by timeless classics and funded directly by dedicated fans, has a firm rel... Pillars of Eternity Release Date
I hope story is good, because developers stated on their forums that it is just smaller project for them. And that is reason why they did not want to waste time with multiplayer functionality. For this I am not sure about depth of this game. I'll miss MP which I am used to from Baldur's Gate, but if story is complex and game has lot to explore, then I may forgive that. (As long as they allow for character AI scripting like BG had.)
If it's anything like the old games (BG, BG2, Planescape, IWD, ...) I might give this a try. I'm not missing multiplayer though, never wanted to do that with the old games anyhow.
No coop no thanks. Having wife complain that she can’t play with me has severe detrimental implications to the long term enjoyability of the game and my continued mental stability.
Hopefully it has some form of easy mode, as much as I liked baldurs gate and planescape, they were hard as balls and a bit difficulty to get to grips with. edit, found this http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Mode
I'm glad they skipped multiplayer to focus on the meat of the game. I'm sick of playing games that needed work done elsewhere that have awful token multiplayer mechanics (DA:I). I can't wait for this to come out, been looking forward to it since it was announced.
Darkest...if this was reddit I would upvote that post. I 100% agree with your assessment of multiplayer in some recent games with DA:I being a key example
Backed this game also. Perfect timing, should be finished DA:I by then. It'll be a nice change of pace.
Hehe nicely said. I guess hotseat is not an option with such games What? 100% DRM? I'd have expected that from the next 'AAA' title j/k
