I've had quite a bit of trouble recently with Punk Buster on Windows 7, I know others here have too. There seems to be a number of "fixes" floating about, but none of them worked for me. Anyway, I found a work -around that seems to do the job for me.

The instructions are given using CoD4 as an example. They can easily be applied to BF2 or CoD5 etc.
Thanks to zaggynl for the fix!

Fully up to date? On Vista x64 if I don't update PB after a new patch would come out for COD4 I'd get kicked by PB.

    Hmmf. :eek2:

I tried as you instructed and it is also failing for me too.

I tried with the setting: Vista compatibility, Vista SP1 and Vista SP2.

Currently running Windows 7 build 7048.

I have made the settings above, chose compatibility with Vista (SP1) and worked. I can :biggun: now, THX
I use Windows Seven build 7057(RC1) and the latest PunkBuster (CoD4)

Seems to be working today for COD4 *shrug*

Been playing for hours on various servers (including the ones in my favourites that would normally give unknown API kicks) without any probs :)
Win7 x64 RC, no compatibility or run as admin tricks

It is for COD5 thats for sure. I played about an hour or so last night on a PB server. All I did was run an update and play, no tweaking anything or copying files around..etc. Wonder what made them cave and support Windows 7 after months of refusing to do so.

Well yes, that I already know. But EB was well known for stating they will and do not support Beta or RC Operating Systems. I don't think the fact that there will only be one RC made them change their mind on this, something else must have. Perhaps Microsoft got involved? It could have happened, I doubt they want to get off to a rocky start with support for Windows 7 just like Vista did, and the stance EB had was pretty much deja vu.

I found this bit of advice at another forum. They were testing the new bf2 1.5 patch. I tried it and it worked for me last night. w7 7100. I did NOT install the patch,

Here's the link and excerpt on fix:

    http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-2/598895-windows-7-bf2-2.html

"2nd EDIT: i intagrated my pb services with my desktop, no kicks now on 1.5 at all and no glitches, SORTED!

To do this do the following.

    Start
    Type mmc and hit enter.
    Goto file
    Add/Remove snap-in
    Services
    Add
    Finish

    Now find PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB.

    Right click and goto properties

click the logon tab and check the box

"Allow service to interact with desktop"

    Hit apply and ok.
