Haven't had the time to fully test these drivers.

But the 2D/3D bug is FINALLY fixed!

This is the first driver since i have this X2 card that actually seems to work as it should!

    Using X64 vista

Try to install catalyst 8.10/8.11 first, restart, uninstall the drivers, restart and then install the 8.12 drivers.
Dont use drive sweap or anything to remove from the registry.

I had to do this :S

At first, I got the impression that Avivo Converter did not use the GPU because all the time, GPU load was at 0%. But in some tests i.e converting a mpg file in a very low compressed MPEG-4 one, I see the GPU load taking discontinuously the value 0 and 25. I don't know whether the process is faster since I'm not used to transcode file on my computer. But it seems that ATI STREAM is active. Maybe if I had a pentium 2 it will show continuously 100 :)

hi,me too having problems with this set of drivers.
uninstalled 8.10,then regedit and deleted eveything from amd and ati, then deleted folders on c:\
    rebooted,installed 8.12 rc3,first time bsod,then they install fine,but no crossfire,this happens also with 8.11.
Its unacceptable, last time a buy ati cards, never had so many troubles with nvida card for just installing a driver.
Btw,8.10 works fine, but can't play newer games because they sometimes need newer drivers.
i hope the final 8.12 working, otherwise the ati cards flying out of my pc

Card doesn't drop down to 2d speeds when you boot the OS until you open a 3d application and close it again. Easily bypassed problem though.

I thought it was only a misreading in the software, not an actual hardware problem.

Not only that. The first time you started a game it ran @ 2D Memory clock speeds.

question?,does my 4870 1gb have that bug cause only the gpu clock drop to 500mhz but the memory stays the same default or overclock,i have to do a 2D profile at 500mhz(gpu) and 500mhz(ram) or it should be doing this automatically

No thats normal with a 4870. Only 4870X2 cards downclock the memory.
