I'm glad some good soul told me it's zen2 in the comment section, it wouldn't really come to me to check that on my own. It says ryzen 7000 and it's ddr5/rdna2 - I was sure it's zen4. I thought it'd be better to use a smaller cpu with newer architecture and ram in an office laptop for efficiency. If I had bought it and found out it's r3000, I'd send it back immediately. What were they thinking naming this 7000 series ? This is intentional customer f**ery.

Anyway, should I go for 5625u Or is there something newer and more energy efficiency I could get ? I think I dont need a 7CU Vega to drain my battery just for work and browser use. That 2cu rdna2 would be perfect, shame 7520u is a scam.

AMD transitioned to a new naming/versioning scheme after Zen3. And it's even more confusing than before. :D

Ah, @cucaulay malkin trying to find more ways to bash amd. :D

A for effort as this looks missleading indeed even though its a smallest chip so who cares.

three different architectures (and a refresh) all named ryzen 7xxx series, good grief....
who cares ? - amd cares, they care very much to mislead people. A lot of people won't even know they bought a 4 year old cpu, not the newest one.
new low in naming confusion imo, by far. imagine intel selling a 13520 with skylake cores, HUB and their followers would explode. 7000 is 3000 ? who cares, budget buyers don't matter... sorry to say that, but you sound like an absolute amd tool.

AMD's naming scheme is different from Intel. Where Intel first numbers denote gen, on AMD the first number denotes the year.
On AMD it's the third number that denotes the generation.

name-calling seems to be your go-to.
and btw... Intel does plenty of crap and always has. which has never stopped me from buying them.
you seem to have forgotten almost a decade of four cores that were overpriced

No you sound like a nvidia tool. Why didnt you point our attention to nvidia mobile gpus missleading naming schemes like this. Its far more worse imo

6800M was 6700 same way. Selective memory ?
@Horus-Anhur all this tells me is that they made up a BS system to screw people.
7 is 2023, okay. It's just a coincidence that it launches soon after 7000 series zen4.
@tunejunky a decade of amd selling turds with no competition. Isn't this funny, the 7520u 4/8 zen2 laptop cost almost the same as 5625 6/12 zen3, same ram size, and 500gb smaller drive. No, this is just me bashing amd. Remember a decade ago intel was expensive ? Look, a squirrel.

Many companies have made bad naming schemes. And that includes this one from AMD. But also includes Intel and NVidia.
What is not normal is that you continually try to trash AMD, for every reason why find, valid or not.
For some reason, you really hate AMD. And I don't understand why.

So this isn't valid ? Cause if it is, then what is the problem.Cause it looks like it's YOU (and surprise, surprise, tunejunky) who would bash me no matter if I have a point or not.
There are certainly misleading naming schemes, but this is a new low.
Somehow 7 in 7000 mobile cpus is not series, it's the year 2023.

let's be really honest - Intel is still selling outmoded cpu's and always has. they only EOL the 11th gen a month or so ago,
and let's not start on Celeron...

ALL manufacturers want new life for old stock as the costs have already been paid. a smaller manufacturer like AMD needs margins where they can find them because they cannot just dump their crappiest cpu's on the OEM market. reality!

you make yourself a target by being a jerk and making sweeping statements w/o context or merit.
you have never met an AMD product you liked (maybe because you never had one to begin) and you search for faults endlessly.
nevermind that Intel/Nvidia has their own oversized share of faults - you're just a fanboy

Looking at this Marketing-induced naming scheme, the number to actually check for when browsing is the 3rd one, then the 2nd one. The "7" is mostly irrelevant. Ugh.

You insist on reading the AMD naming scheme as if it's Intel's naming scheme. And then wonder why it doesn't work and claim AMD is misleading.
AMD's naming scheme might not be the most convenient, but AMD made it very clear in their slides on how it works.

How many threads have you started because Intel or NVidia had a bad naming scheme?

@tunejunky @Hhorus-Anhur what mobile 11xxx/12xxx/13xxx models are intel selling that are not 11/12/13 gen ? I started this many threads. And I only started researching mobile now that I need it.
wy not be honest, and add more 3000/4000/5000 models ?

I think he's trying to assert that the new AMD naming scheme is like when Nvidia rebadges old tech under a new gen's number scheme. Not the same thing. I will agree with that it's confusing, but it's not actually lying, unlike NV did with rebadging.
