well if u want to win on sheer fps then so be it. i dont get what the big deal is and why u or u want the 295 want to win this "crown".

i hate to go on but people who feel the need to create some kind of crown have an inferioty complex.

it's called a self-defense mechanism. u creat imaginary crowns etc to inflate your ego or your product.

get over it man. both are excellent cards. there is no need for this who has the crown business at all. can u not see my point?

if u want me to say the 295 wins in terms of overall fps fine...i dont have an issue. cos i dont care :)

but u do..my major gripe in this led is that u seem like an alrite chap with a good-head yet u post things like who has the crown and why does the 5870 have a ****ty exhaust...?

beats me. i'll give u a comparison. i start a thread like "5870 beats a 295 in a lot of games and has 1gpu..." i mean come on this is childish stuff really.

ok if there is no crown and no performance hierachy then tell me why XBitLabs named the first GTX 295 review as: "The King Is Dead, Long Live the King: EVGA GeForce GTX 295+ Graphics Card Review" ?

    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/evga-geforce-gtx295.html

Denying something exist doesn't make it go away.

what everyone wants is the more powerful card and gtx 295 owners have been enjoying that for the past 9 months. saving $5 on your electricity doesnt mean anything when it comes to high end hardware.

double standards: a fundamental attribute of fanboyism.

just stating the obvious. actually it's only people who take reviews literally or in this case the title that are the problem.

I was going to do the same thing because some very early benchmarks show the 5870 30% faster than the GTX295. But the real benchmarks came out that show the 5870 to be 10-15% slower, so I didn’t sell my GTX295. I don’t like the idea of downgrade…

Basically, you pay for downgrade congratulations…
(of course you didn’t sell the GTX295 the same money that you bought the 5870)

Now I am going to wait 2 months to get the GTX380 or 5870x2.

good for u...now let's move on...

(thanks for the congratulations. not needed as i know my own mind thks..malakes)

right led u base your performance crown off of xbitlabs review title. i suggest you go and post in there and agree and not bring other forums ideas/threads here.

personally i dont want to listen to other forums in guru. perhaps i'm unique in that fact.

Forums? I only brought XBitLabs into this discussion which is my 2nd review site with AnAndTech being my first. You are acting like I'm posting a thread off XS or something...this is a review article, read it.

What are you doing here then if you're a member of "better" review sites?

Either way i have no problem in admitting the fact that the GTX295 is the faster card, hell, i owned one myself for six months.

Theres no doubt that it holds the crown for raw graphics performance, but thats the only thing it does hold the crown on. Everything else belongs to the 5870 (power consumption, heat etc) for the sake of argument, not that they are even in direct competition... only the average consumer/forum dweller assumes this out of hand without knowing the full facts.

Those sites have more reviews and more in depth than almost any others. This site has great forums with good reviews, but not as many.

FINALLY, SOMEONE SAID IT!! THANK YOU!!!!!

GTX 295 IS TWO GPUS. THE 5870 IS ****ONE**** GPU.

    This isn't rocket science, folks.
    2 is more than 1.

...oh andBTW, THE GTX 295 SELLS FOR $100+ MORE THAN THE 5870.

...and did I mention the fact that the GTX 295 seems to use almost 100w more at load than the 5870???

    Again, this isn't rocket science.

The fact that Nvidia has a card with TWO GPUs and sells for $100+ more RIGHT NOW, and only USUALLY beats the 5870 and even then not by a huge margin isn't exactly something Nvidia corporate HQ and engineers are high-fiving each other over.

it's $75 and both cards compete for top performance, it's not rocket science.

Even if the GTX295 won by a landslide, I still wouldn't consider buying one at this point. It's DX10. But it only wins by $75 more, if that.

Well, there are GTX 295s selling on Newegg for $500+ while the 5870 is selling for $379 across the board.

Even here its only 76.16 USD in difference.

    Found cheapest price via www.edbpriser.dk

    Club 3D GTX 295 (1.75 GB) 3.042,00 DKK = 594,07 USD

    Club 3D Radeon HD5870 (1 GB) 2.652,00 DKK = 517,91 USD

I would recommend the 5850/5870 as upgrade though.
