AFAIK, many popular adblockers already have updates in the works and should be ready for the transition.

Dunno, I find 1080p looks fine on my 4k 55" TV when streaming from my NAS - not worth getting 4k content for when sitting 3 meters away.
I don't watch youtube in fullscreen on my PC :|

I think my phone is close to 4k? Samsung S10, but I have it set to some lower resolution because who cares about 4k on a phone. 1080p is even too much for viewing on it.

if there premium gave actual 4k qaulity with out there massive ammounts of compression then ok? but even then I think it scummy, i actual think youtubes compressions on video is almost as bad as most cable/sat compression if not worse

Been paying a sub to youtube since it was 12.99 a month, don't even miss the money and it's well spent for no ads, no throttling of bandwidth.
Worth it all day long if you watch youtube a lot.

Netflix charges more for above 480p, and even more for 4K (at least in the US): https://www.netflix.com/signup/planform

Quite frankly it's surprising 4K+ on YT was free for as long as it was, and unrestricted (anybody with a halfway-modern phone can select 4K video recording for the silliest of things). Most people realistically don't need 4K, and if 1080p or 1440p isn't good enough and you're serious enough about viewing 4K+, that's what the subscription is for.

Why would V3 make ads unblockable on Firefox? They know Chrome's implementation is controversial, and have plans to do it differently: https://www.xda-developers.com/mozilla-firefox-manifest-v3-adoption/

Yes, but no L key on kitchen television!

And on related note, another thing I noticed is there is no way to cancel/skip ads when viewing them on PC using Firefox's feature allowing you to pop-out a video to play outside of browser in another area of screen in its own little window - a very handy feature.

Hah get yourself a wireless keyboard. Or, you can use Droidmote, which has been super handy for me - it allows your phone to act as a trackpad, keyboard, or gamepad through wifi.

I'm aware of Firefox's pop-out player, though I never really figured out what it was good for. Why not just detach the whole tab? I'm genuinely curious BTW - maybe there is something great about it that I'm not aware of.

I have two monitors... main 27" and portrait 24". When I am working over remote desktop, I sometimes pop-out a you tube video onto side monitor while continuing to work over remote on main monitor. I suppose I could detach tab, but more inconvenient, like to keep all tabs on one browser window. It also remembers where you pop-out size and position wise so handy that way too.

That is probably the best reason why the rest of us have to pay more for less services in the end.

Ha ha ha, poor old YouTube and how they must be struggling in the current economic climate.
Its life bud, same reason i use a VPN, use Adblock (but not on sites im a member of such as Guru3D), use Ghostery, block my browsing from analytical capture programs.
Also i dont pay for any PPV UFC fights because in my country we dont have to, i also use my VPN to get cheaper Steam games, cheaper Netflix and access to Disney +. And none of this is illegal.
But ive never used pirated software.
If you want to watch adverts on TV then crack on

Yeah, it's really not a high fee to ask if you watch YouTube much at all.
