Anyone know the inner workings of youtube?

1- what video file formatts are sent to youtube?

2- what program is used to convert and play the files (Adobe Flash 9)?

3- where are the files stored and at whose cost?

4- how do the video files get uploaded to youtube?

    5- any other info

    Thanks

    David

    1.)
2.) They display it through flash.

3.) Err, there servers and their cost.

4.) You upload them to Youtube, or whoever makes them.

5.) Learn to go to maybe the YouTube Help site?

In a nutshell, most file formats are accepted, it doesn't cost and they host the files.

To download videos from Youtube and the like, go to this site:

    http://keepvid.com/

Follow instructions and download, then download a program front Cnet download.com called "Cinemaforge" and use it to convert the FLV movies into anything.

    Thanks for the answers.
guess I could have found most of the info at their help section ... thanks for the link.
Thanks for the link to download and convert the vids also.

It would be interesting to know the amount and size of all the files on youtube, and how much it's costing them per month for their server.
