4090 still alot faster than 7900xtx

 

4090 owners after having read just the thread title.

 

Well it is a 82tflop card while the 7900xtx is 30tflop

 

So the 4090 flops harder, but it doesn't

 

Somes games like HZD & Hitman are struck by reduced CPU performance due to rBAR with Intel CPUs.
The Nvidia driver has a blacklist to turn off rBAR for these titles on Intel CPUs, whereas rBAR is always enabled when using a Radeon.

Really bad that Intel doesn't manage to fix the issue together with mainboard vendors. Especially since their Arc GPUs are super dependent on rBAR...

 

Please stop citing HUB when it comes to "Overhead"

There is not "Overhead", when you feed these cards limited data and the GPU load is low, the gpu puts area's of the die to sleep (Yes, even with Prefer Max) and the remaining regions left active must be clocked higher to make up for the area's of the gpu that are asleep.

 

I don't think even Nvidia's clock management would be that bad.

 

It would be more interesting seeing how big is the overhead when pairing the ada vs rdna3 when using zen3 or older cpus.

 

Why does it do this? Does this mean 4090 is the loser in pretty much any esports title at 1080p?

 

When cpu usage is over about 80%, an nvidia gpu loses a a higher percentage of performance compared to an amd gpu. It's frustrating that such a large percentage of people can't seem to understand this. It is in fact driver overhead.

 

When the CPU usage is so high, any GPU is going to struggle anyway because the CPU can`t feed it properly...

Or i`m seeing this the wrong way?

 

I find it funny how the OP's title mixes up "how fast is your GPU" while actually it's a CPU thing if he's talking about overhead.

Better to have some parts asleep with the rest at high util, than to have it all awake at variating util.

 

Nvidia fans cant see nor accept Nvidia isnt perfect, or in fact 1 thing could be wrong with Nvidia drivers.
AMD used to get slammed about DX11 driver over head, as it was bad, especially in crossfire.
But anything like this gets found for Nvidia, swept under the rug.

 

I can play FC6 at 4k max RT at 120fps, I think my 4090 is fast therefore it is.

 

7900xtx is pretty close to 4090 in FC6 even with rt enabled.

 

4090 can't do 120fps in FC6 @ 4k max.
