what's your favorite game?
Divinity Original Sin 2 is mine. I just think it's something special, something that doesn't come along often.

 

Cold War MP is mine at the moment, and Forza Horizon now and then

At the moment Cyberpunk.

 

Diablo 2 is the best game ever made and my favorite.

For PC I would have to say Arx Fatalis.

I only play for an hour or so at about 10.30 when best wife has gone to bed. I probably spend more time looking at how to optimize my system and the game than I actually play.
I have hit a sweet spot for Cold War at the moment though with custom resolution and dsr

 

I'd say GTA V. The combination of an interesting story, vast open world, great characters & voice actors, vehicle physics & chaotic AI is just mindblowing to me. Ever since they made the jump to an optional 1st person perspective it has become the perfect game to have fun with.

RDR2 is close behind but IMO they f**ked up with unresponsive controls & a needlessly complicated health & damage system. That and the story is kinda meh since everybody knows what's going to happen anyway.

liked divinity 2 a ton hope baldurs gate 3 is great.

also been working on a tunneling theory for black holes, i rather like.


have to consider all times i not finished much but cyberpunk. and i yet to get back into doom eternal anoter goty for me.

 

Outcast is the game that I hold dearest in my heart, but it's not something I play regularly. I think most of my time is spent on the MotoGP racing games, with every yearly iteration getting +/- 150 hours of playtime according to Steam.

 

This topic comes back regularly enough, and each time I can't just give one single answer. I have to go by time periods and categories and/or platforms, instead. I can say what - for example - is my favorite Arcade game of all time, sure. I can think of what's my favorite RPG of all time, perhaps my favorite Shoot 'em Up of all time, or what may have been my favorite 8-bit game of all time. But I cannot for the life of me just think of ONE single video game that I would call my absolutely #1 of all time across all platforms and since I started playing them from around 1989 / 90. It's plain and simple impossible.

So my answers would be along the lines of: Favorite [insert whatever specific] (of all time, it'd have to be, if I pick up just one or a few select)

So... favorite...

PC Game: Probably Ultimate Doom, but also Diablo II: Lord of Destruction; and Command & Conquer 2 (a.k.a, Tiberian Sun).
Arcade Game: Killer Instinct, but also Mortal Kombat II; and either Time Crisis 2 or Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

But if at this point I try to think of something "simple" like what's my favorite Racing game... well ok, on which platform? I could easily say Super Mario Kart, but that would fit better if I said that it just happens to be my favorite Racing game on the Super Nintendo, specifically. Even though I equally loved Hydro Thunder at the Arcades back then, and adored San Fransisco Rush as well; so I'd have to be specific again and say that Hydro Thunder is my favorite Arcade Racing game. If I think of what's my favorite Fighting game of all time; my mind would probably immediately go to Killer Instinct (Arcade), but I can also easily pick the Super Nintendo port of Mortal Kombat II and claim that, for me, it was the best Fighting game on that platform.

As a video gamer who absolutely loves this hobby and passion and past time, and have been 'at it' for now pretty much 30 to 31 years of my life; I'm sorry but there's absolutely no possible and feasible answer to "What's my favorite game", period (of all time, ever). I just can't do it, unable to mentally, nostalgically and emotionally.
