    @Gellmar or Schoko :
    Just inquiring, nothing more, what is your estimate of a successful working patch for ( Vista x64 ) / ( Win7 x64 ) ?

    Actually forget that one.
Maybe I should better ask whether there are any signs that AMD/ATI is locking softmodding in hardware ?
Or is it because these 2 OS's are so much different from ( WinXP x64 ) ?

I must say the old driver works great in CATIA V5, but the problem is the 3870 is too ****in slow ;)

I think that old drivers are very poor (ati or rather amd has the best hardware for now, but nivida drivers are where it's at). Usually when i close maya my second monitor gets corrupted, witch is not acceptable (i don't know if they have fixed it in the newer ones though.) If I run ANY app that uses direct X before I open an OpenGl app it displays pink/magenta artifacts in areas that should be pure black. Gaming sucks to since the drivers are old, though I don't game a lot and DCC apps are the priority. But with all the annoyances it still worth using the old moddable firegl drivers over the randeon ones!

Hello to all of you guys!

I have just installed the newly-modded driver (8.603) and got the following SPEC chart:

Although this is not very good result comparing to 8.453.1 drivers with the following result:

this is better than all other drivers from 8.523 to 8.583.

The patch is quite ordinary except of one jump patched, and the modded file is here (for XP32 only - XP64 will be as soon as I download it):
    http://depositfiles.com/files/bmez3kxml

Check this and report the results with SPEC and FireGL Feature Test. Also, I would be very pleased if someone checks the latest Radeon drivers to compare the results with these ones.

    Regards, gellmaR

Your result means that it doesn't fully function with your mod. If you want I can mod it for you.

It would be brilliant, cause I can not download your drivers from LiveStorage to look deeper into them:infinity: But if you share the files on some other uploader, like FileFactory, probably I will change the necessary points, test and make the patchscripts for your mod on 48xx, mine on 38xx on XP and Vista/7.

Could you please confirm that Vista/7 is not a typo.

EDIT: I'm using 7 RC at the moment.

    TIA,
    Robert

Yes, I'm working on XP and 7 RC drivers now. Cause Vista is a yesterday OS already :)

Cool! I will try it out as soon as you make it available. If you're looking for testers, before releasing it. I could also help with that.

And I agree with "a yesterday OS". 7 RC is so much better than Vista. Even the betas were better.
