    I have licenses vor XP Vista and 7.

    So it's legal for me to ask.

    I have found XP/Vista/7 Gamer's Editions. Is it worth using those OS modifications? Will I get performance gain for CPU? What is it? I know it is lightweight windows with services removed, but are they really removed or simply disabled? I am looking for the best OS to play ArmA 2, most likely x64 OS.

    I would like to use 7 or 7 Gamer's Edition. But is the gamer's edition better or not?

    Here are features of Windows 7 Gamer's edition x64

    It says lower memory consumption as well... Nobody provides any benchmarks... If someone could give benchmarks for heavy games I would have at least an idea... It's tempting though...

    they just stopped the various services that aren't that necessary, you can do it yourself on a normal install

    i agree with not worth your time

    If you really want a leaner and meaner Windows, get Windows Server 2008 R2, it's free for all post-secondary computer science students.

    I'm running it right now and it's a lot more responsive than Windows 7.

    * Specially Modded DirectX 11 for Extreme Gaming
    Lol, what could they possibly do without lowering quality to improve performance?

    * Show extensions for known file types
    And this is good for gaming, because?? You can easily do this stuff yourself as well. (folder options)

    * Faster browsing with IE
    Then why the need for FireFox??

    * Enabled slow-motion window effects
    Why? This does not make windows faster.

    * Winrar for extraction purpose.
    Wow they included freeware! :3eyes:

    * Faster Shutdown ( 3 seconds services kill timeout.)
    Oh yes, just kill services while they might have important updates to finish.
    That is certainly good for stability :3eyes:

    * Notepad saves window position
    * Enabled Word wrap in Notepad
    LOL Notepad.
    Notepad++ anyone?

    * NVIDIA Drivers Added
    * ATI Drivers Added
    outdated after a week

    * Windows Update service disabled
    And this is a good thing because??

    Seriously nearly all of the things mentioned you can do for yourself. There is a lot of bs in this and it's not always good to do these things to gain performance. The performance difference must also be barely noticeable
    I say: Not worth it.

    To be honest, all these modded or remix OS's are all the same as the normal ones, they just added skins , etc. For best performance, use certain drivers and more importantly, buy a better card or a better rig. You want skins, download them, etc.

    I will admit tho, even tho you won't get better performance, these modded os's are pretty cool depending on what you get, kinda like super prebuilt os without all the extra stuff. I don't use them anymore tho.

    I've got vista sp1 to eat only 430mb even with aero on, as game OS, even antivirus was done from other OS so i could run it free from hiccups. Helped a lot when playing crysis, FC2 or other boring and resource consuming games with 2GB RAM.

    These are just awesome features. In my opinion windows, 7 gamer edition lacks some features while Microsoft covered them in Windows 10 Gamer Edition. I will admit tho, even tho you won't get better performance, these modded os's are pretty cool depending on what you get, kinda like super prebuilt os without all the extra stuff. I don't use windows 7 gamer edition anymore tho.
    I've got vista sp1 2 years ago to eat only 430mb even with aero on, as game OS, even antivirus was done from other OS so i could run it free from hiccups. Helped a lot when playing Crysis, FC2 or other boring and resource consuming games with 2GB RAM. So if you're a student then this site offers the free official setup for Windows 10 Gamer Edition or you can get key from Microsoft. Check this: www.softolite.com/windows-10-gamer-edition/
    It might help you.
