Hey Guys!! So.... I've tried dual socket 1366 performance and was'nt very impressed with the numbers so I've moved on to the new xeon w3680.. Unlike the i7 980x, it operates at 3.33ghz and has an unlocked multiplier / Also a Hexacore... Should be easy to overclock as well.. I'll be adding some tests on this thread by friday and hopefully the numbers will be better! cheers!! This is an ES sample, so any benchmarks will not count for points on hwbot.. That does'nt mean a new world record cant be set.. I Just wont get points for it. -Beaux :nerd:
Hey Guys!! It will be available on march 16th I believe.. Was planning on passing it around to some fellow overclocking guru's as well for fun.. Get some good benchmarking out of it before release... cheers!!
Another benchmark this weekend.. 4 5870's and the w3680.. vantage.. All on LN2. Hopefully all goes well.. I'll add gaming performance and general computing as well.
LOL,looking forward to some benches. Gratzs on snagging a ES sample, the boys here are being good to ya I see.
I wish I could get two.. Now that would be awesome!! I guess maybe once the evga dual socket board is released I'll grab another..
Oh yeah. I'm just excited that it's actually set at 3.33ghz and unlocked.. Hopefully more headroom for overclocking. What are the i7 980x clock speeds at default? I thought it was 2.6 or 2.4ghz?
Living the dream man, living the dream. I am primarily interested in temperatures for this thing. Surely it's going to be hot, even under water.
So I'm working right now but got a confirmation that the cpu is here! Thought it would be friday. Man that was quick! Good thing I just filled the LN2 Tank during lunch break! Might just run some game performance and other benchies first.. See how it handles multi graphics.. Then I'll go for the crazy stuff later..
uhh im excited for the results of this if it shows big improvement over quad core ill wait and upgrade untill then
