Microsoft announced the next Xbox (aka Project Scarlet), they are calling it Xbox Series X.
They did not announce the price. Q4 2020.

    Core Features:
+Designed to be backwards compatible with Xbox One (games and accessories)
    +Game Pass on Day one
+Physical Disc Drive, All-Digital version presumed to be in works
    +Internal SSD storage (NVME)
+Focus on Low Latency/responsiveness, Variable Refresh Rate.
    +CPU is based on Zen2
+GPU is based on AMD / RDNA, with 'hardware ray tracing', they say it is twice as powerful as Xbox One X (which is 6 teraflops) which would put it in 12 teraflops range (though they might be factoring in better VRAM etc - for reference 5700XT has 9.75 Tflops)
    +Aiming for 4K60, 120fps/8K 'possible'
+New Controller (similar to current but with Share/Capture buttons)
    +Shaped like a PC Tower

I like my Xbox One X, mainly because of Game Pass, though the disappointing part of it is the push for 4K. I believe Sony lets developers choose 1440P or 1080P on Pro, but for X, Microsoft pushes 4K, so you end up with a lot of 4K games running at 30FPS, which is not ideal for action games. So even though PS4 Pro is weaker than Xbox One X, a lot of games feel smoother. Sounds like Microsoft learned a lesson though with the focus on high-framerate/low-latency.

what a stupid design, they should have just put the first gen shell back in production and sold that with new internals.

for the consumer market, how will this fit into existing home cinema / gaming setups looking like that, you couldnt put it under your tv like consoles of old.

Like the design, and i think we are seeing vapor cooling V2 and that is great as it confirms this new xbox will be just as quiet as the XBX, that is a win out of the starting gate right there as i never want to own another console that sounds like the Ps4 Pro, once bitten twice shy.

I don´t like the design, seems like a cheap gaming PC tower...

With most, if not all exclusives coming to PC as well it’s a pass from me.

Sold my Xbox One X and just bought a dedicated 4K Blu Ray player, the software they use to run Blu Rays on Xbox One is pretty buggy.

After decades, console players have finally discovered a PC case!

I don't really care what it looks like. I have all my consoles and my PC in a small room behind my TV so it'll be hidden and I won't hear a thing from it.

I'm just looking forward to the next gen games, both on console and PC.

Not just me that thinks the software is buggy then?

50% of BD discs just don't work, and you have to feck about with different power modes until the disc magically works and then it works forever.
It's all very random and illogical and why i haven't really used it as an optical drive.

Saying that I will probably get this for games, I will probably be done with PC gaming soon and so far I've enjoyed game pass a lot.

Xbox one X is currently irreplaceable for me. I enjoy this console with my CV27Q Freesync 2 HDR monitor. LFC+HDR10+VRR+1440p@120hz no need to lose my day with PC drivers and hardware. I hope I can use my full specs with next gen xbox, at least on my OLED HDMI 2.1 enabled TV.

I really like the design lol. Looks pretty solid.

Austin Evans made a good point, with this being Series X maybe there is a cheaper Series S that targets lower resolution and price down the line.

If we follow the same enhanced games for X series style, S and lower spec'd systems are garbage money. Same platform, different games, I would never pay for this IMHO. I would prefer to buy nothing, instead of using inferior game versions where applicable. o_O

What? Games are playable on both the current and X right now and that's never been different. I like the route they're going, basically almost PC route where you have the option of buying into a certain budget

yah I saw the news it an interesting design for sure. kind makes sense, alot easy to cool if more close to desktop case design then most console designs which almost always use slot/blower cooler setups.

but what do i know I wont own these either seeing I refused to get xbox anything since the 360

Pretty much the same experience I had with it, that coupled with the super laggy and poorly laid out UI just meant I got sick of using it, I’ve got a PC connected to my TV that does a far better job of running games at 4K than the Xbox One X ever could so it became a paperweight until I finally decided to sell it.

I’ll probably end up with a PS5 if Sony keeps pumping out the kind of exclusives they did with the current gen.

Yeah i like this way for consoles, incremental upgrades so the end user keeps their functioning games library, digital or retail, and with a boost to the consoles power, suits me down to the ground that approach, and with the cost of gpu and cpus alone its very easy to stump say 400/500 quid for a all singing all dancing console compared to my 480 quid i payed just for gtx1080 alone.
