You can see the laser cut if you remove the heatsink, look here http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/vidcard/100 I have seen tutorials of hard modding with a conductive pen to rejoin the circuit that is laser cut, just search google.
The new gpus are also laser cut on the underside of the die, so there is no way to physically bridge the cut. And don't even consider unsoldering the gpu, this is impossible (well actually it's not, but the re-attachment is) mjc85: sorry, I got the wrong end of the stick! I don't know the ns of the mem
Anyone else OK, anyone here have the same results as me getting the 16 pipes to unlock x850 /to XT PE mod, but only runs RELIABLY in a heavy 3D enviorment @ 520/540 xt speeds. At PE speeds I get system reboots.
Yup. I run mine at 530/580 with no artifacts but at 540/590 I get artifacts. It seems to differ from card to card(just like everything else it seems). The 2 cards that wouldn't unlock ran at 550/600 speeds before artifacts. Non have crashed though. It's possible this card is overloading your PS when running at 540/590 speeds.

there is no bios for connect3d x850pro agp...you must download a bios from a other producer..i would recommend ati x850xt agp bios..im getting the same card(connect3d) on 27..cant wait until by the way what is your maximum OC with stock cooling? 3dmark score?
My 850pro flashed to a xtpe runs at 550-560 core/610-625 mem, without any artifacts or reboots. the zalman hsf keeps my card idle at 32-35 celcius.

...i falsh the card this morning with a modded x85oxt bios...works great but the pipe is the same that the pro...12:frown: ...the stock oc i don't remember the score....but now (xt bios with 578/623) at default 3dmark 05 give me 5994
..i flash my x850pro (3dconnect) to XTPE (with zalman)..but i've only 12 pipe...i write at the dos a: flashrom -f -p 0 name.bin ...i don't write -newbios....this is important!??!
that tells it to kinda accept the new settings of the new bios. to accept the 16 pipes. if you don't do that it will not change the the pipes.
Coget when you flash using atiflash if you don`t use "-newbios" (without the quotes) you will have xtpe speeds but 12 pipes . nextime you flash use this: atiflash -newbios -f -p 0 atix850xtpe1.bin or the name of the bios

I bought a CONNECT3D X850Pro and should recieve it in a few days.. What if the extra pipelines are actually very faulty with serious errors and the card uses them? Does 2d use pipelines? If so then if i flash the bios i will ruin everything right? . Im afraid because the garantee doesnt cover this kind of stuff. Thanks. Im reall anxious for this newcard, im stuck with a geforce 3 ti500 for years :frown:
goto www.techpowerup.com and download the xt or pe bios and follow the instructions i posted and you will have a 16 pipe card at 540core and 590mem do not forget to buy a new HSF.
