I currently use a 6600GT in my PC, would the X800GTO2 be a worth while upgrade?

    Cheers!

what cooling are you guys using??

im planning to get GTO2 with the silencer...... and i think i did the right choice moving from 6800gt on agp to x850xt pe (unlocked GTO2) on pci-e..... with GT i get ~5900 on 3dm05 and 13300 on 3dm03..... i hope its worth it....

Quote from the original techpowerup.com review on the mod:

    http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/vidcard/127/2

520/540 is still very good. If your card cannot do that then you have a problem if it does you don’t.

BTW, my GTO2 will do 600/600/16 but some other cards go higher. I'm using the stock cooler.

I'm running stock cooling mate. The fans running at full. I also have a 120mm 89cfm fan blowing air over the card. I had this for my old SLI setup but it works and cools this card very nicely indeed.

Although I do want to get the Zalman GPU cooler as the stock cooling can get quite noisy

ok guys i have got hold of a sapphire gto2 as replacement for my dead 66gt now question i have got pipes open now can i flash it with xt bios now or will it f it? i have run it @660/1200 are you guys flashing with a xt or pe? or just going with the bios from the powerup mod seems a bit slower than my pe clock for clock maybe just me though been a wile since i clocked a ati

Mines running the GTO2 bios still.

Mine as I have previously stated clocks up to 640/1270 no trouble. I can go higher on the core but any higher on the memory causes artifacts. I would volt mod it but I can't be bothered as the advatages I would see in game isn't worth it.

I have heard of people having trouble running the card with a x850xt pe bios, its got something to do with a rage chip that the GTO2 doesn't have or something.

Just to add I am ordering a nice Opteron 150 so I'm going for 3ghz on that. Should break 8k with that and a bump on the core. Hopefully.

thanx m8, its gone 660/1200 no probs so far have run 7900 in 05 @3.3g but i recon there is a lot more there, also have a vmod for it so i may just pop that on if i dont get past the 8k

I have a killer xt bios with tweaked mem timings I did when i was last messing around with x8xx wanted to give it a go suppose i could flash it and see what happens if its no good i could flash it back,

btw flashed it with x850xt seems to run ok I think you may need more than a 150 and a bit more over clock just run 8869 in 05

Nice one mate! I can't match that. I'm now going for a X2 3800+ as I am finding I am doing more multi tasking than game playing lately.

Any possibility you could throw that xt bios this way mate? I wouldn't mind having a play around.

I don't know about you but I have noticed in game that past a certain point of overclock it doesn't improve the fps enough to warrent it (like 1-2fps).

Not to get too far off topic but I would suggest an Opteron 170 over the X2 3800+.

When I bough my Athlon 64 X2 3800+ it was about $350 and the Opteron 170 was about $400.

Given the OC potential of the Opteron 170 and the larger cache I’d have to give the nod to the Opteron.

I didn’t know about the Opt 170 when I bought my X2 or I would have opted differently.

No where has the opty in stock here mate, and its much more expensive than the x2 3800+. Damn british prices lol.

do you guys have fastwrite ON or OFF??

i got the card unlocked and clocked to 580/1180 with atisilencer..... temps are low but i cant oc pass them.... is it fastwrite..... when i had 6800GT i just turned it OFF and i clocked my GT 40MHz more on core without lockups 440/1190

Does PCI-E have fast writes?! I have never seen an option for it.

it doesnt..... but the driver has the option...... so im asking in case there might be some trobule if turned ON..... well i turned it OFF, like many ppl told me......

are you guys using v-mod with your card..... without v-mod i get 572/616..... is that good, suprisingly nfsmw runs 6xaa, 16xaf 1280 without a glitch!! :deflate:

No volt mod here mate. My card has hit the wall at 670/1275 without volt mod. I can't be bothered to volt mod it anyway, not worth it unless all you want is a higher bench.

I would have thought your card would go higher on the core. Your memory is already beyond the X850xtpe's clocks so that may have maxed out.

Mind you I have a 120mm 84cfm fan blowing directly onto the card which helps greatly.

well..... i clocked my card to 572/1232 any further would result in artifacting... i have atisilencer installed (fan @ 100%) with a 120mm fan blowing on it but still cant go higher on the core, temps are 33°C idle and 50°C full load.... is the power supply unstable, i have LC 550W.... i would really like to go over that 600MHz on the core....

my 3dmark05 score is 6720 points
