X58 boot errors

    There is none. It's got the latest BIOS of the ASUS website on the board.

    Thought as much, though it's supposedly got "industrial grade" everything on this board...

    There are both bios and physical modifications on some of the P6 boards to enable the use of Xeons, though it looks like they are only needed for the x5xxx chips.

    Update: removed CPU, blew out socket, just in case, reseated. Got it working with the 1 stick of crap low speed DDR3 I had lying around. None of my other RAM (the good stuff) is recognised by the board.

    It could be an issue with the cpu itself

    Possibly. It's stress test stable, it seems at stock speed.
