x4 good for phys-x?

    Galaxy 9800 GT 512MB
    I see some boards with x16 and x4. If I use the x4 for phys-x, is it going to lower the x16 slot? (for example, when 2 cards are sli-d they both become x8)

    Only problem is this is an AMD motherboard. is phys-x still possible? If not, what on earth would I use the x4 slot for?

    yes physx will run fine on a 4x pci-e slot

    and no, 2 cards will not drop to 8x each with 2 cards..it should stay @ 16x and 4x, but the only real way to tell is to read the motherboard specs/manual

    @doodle333: why would he want that link? says he has an AMD mobo, not an ATI vid card
