Just got myself a new X1900XTX and a Sapphire PURE Innovation Motherboard. Playing CSS at 1280X1024 with everything on highest and mx AA and max AF im staying at 110-120 fps and in 8man firefight in de_dust with granades going off everywhere idropped to 90fps.
FEAR with everything at full at 1280x960 with 2xAA im getting 75-85 fps and dropping to about 60 in heavey action.
Going to download 3dmark 03 and 05 and run them for scores and compare them to my old system with a X800XT and a Abit AV8 Mobo.
    ------------
reserve space for 3dmark scores later today
    ------------
    System Specs:
    AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice 939
    Sapphire PURE Innovation PI-A9RX480 Motherboard
    1024MB (2x512) OCZ Platnum REV.2 PC3200 2-2-2-5
ATi Radeon X1900XTX 512MB (built by ATi not 3rd party)
    OCZ Modstream 520W PSU
    Segate 200GB SATAII HDD
Thermaltake Bigwater Liquid Cooling system (CPU only, stock cooling for now on GPU)

3dmark01 on X800XT and Abit mobo was 27383
    03 was around 10500
    05 was 6140

benches on new card and mobo coming soon.

    Ofcourse he is.

I'd do the very same thing if I bought that videocard.

****, actually I'm not. I didn't do this when I bought my new rig :p

for comparison my set-up gets 11503 in 3d marks 05 with the card at stock clocks and drivers at defualt settings

  7. Let him have some fun guys....I know that I fet excited when I got mine. BTW dude, with the clocks in my profile, I clear 12k in 05 and about 5.9k in 06..... If I OC more to the extreme, like 800/1800 on the card and 2.96Ghz on the CPU, I break 13k in 05 and get about 6.7k in 06.....

  9. Well I don't have access to liquid notrogen to pull that off! The highest score I was able to get with my card at 800/1800 was 13,698 in 05. Who ever put that score up must have taken his core above 1Ghz or something crazy!

core of 936 mem 950 under cascade by a guy name goes by overklokk at extermsystems, nice oc to say the least, yours is good too

  11. Damn, 936 core...that's insane! at 800 core even with my cooling system, the temps peak at about 72C under full load. And that's a little high for my liking, with the clocks in my profile my temps peak at 51C under full load. I use a blend of coolant and alcohol to keep temps under control. I just leave it at the clocks in my profile for gaming, because even with those clocks I can play anything at 1600 x 1200 max settings, so I see no need to push further. So, what kind of clocks are you pushing?

I haven't even tested anything beyond defualt speeds yet, although my crt will do 2048x1536@100 refresh rate so I could make use of more in game

    Thats a beastly CRT!

  14. For sure! I have 22" LCD that only goes to 1920 x 1536 at 60hz! I play at 1600 x 1200 because at that resolution my monitor can manage 75hz.

  15. Yes actually, the sound card helped a good bit. Didn't get rid of it completely but helped it a good amount. Thanks for your help on that BTW. I am now thinking about something even a little better like the x-fi range (maybe even the fatal1ty) after seeing how much this card helped. (can't remember if it was you that suggested that series in the first place) I set my page file to half my RAM amount 1024Mb (down from the huge 2048Mb) and everything seems to be running without a hitch......anyway thanks just the same.....

compared to lcd this thing is huge space hog and a power guzzler but it does provide good gamming support,a mitsubishi diamond pro 22" also has dual input
and yes I was in favore of the soundcard up-grade too

I got one to but even though it beats a 256 7800 gtx in the in game Fear time demo, the nvidea seems to play much smoother and gives a better in game experience. You getting a lot of stuttering with that card in Fear?

I've had this rig for about 2 weeks now and nothing else comes close. I tried (2X) GF 7800 GTX 256MB in 16X SLI and that is about the same as the single X1900XTX only a lot pricier, so I returned them. The X-FI Extreme sound card really unloads the CPU and speeds things up greatly. Also, 2GB of RAM seems to be the sweet spot.

With a setup like that mate you should do :p I have only recently changed from onboard to this Audigy 4 and the different even with music playback is noticable.

Game performance seems to be improved as well.
