Way overpriced...of course, they will be the first week. They are going to grab as many people as they can at $700, then the price will drop...once they realize not too many people overall are buying it at that price. lol

Oh nooooooooooes. I cant believe ATI released a PCI version of their latest card. Hard to find those anywhere to begin with. And then to tell everyone they're not going to make AGP versions of the x1800...yet they release an older PCI version of the card. I just can't believe it.

    J/K BWUAHAHAHAHA!

good one dude - i'll not be upgrading for a 16pipeline card no matter how good it is, nor how cheap it is. It's not worth selling this card to chip out an extra 1 or 2 hundo for a card that'll be outdated well before it's time. Had right now been a couple of months ago, it might be a different story.

you guys do remember that 7800GTX was 599$ when it was first released.

give it some time. the price will come down to atleast 500 - 550$

either way i will probably skip this generation and get a geforce 8 along with a 24" LCD :)

    It is.

However, with the 7800GTX selling for around $430...it's the better deal.

That is a different card man. CDW lists the XT....not the XL for cryin out loud...

    Speaking of reading :p

Of course, why buy an XL for $450 when you can get a GTX for $450 and a GT for $350?

xl for 450? what the hell are you talking about... 380 here, which seems to be about the mean newegg price for the 7800GT..

    390 here..

and 430 here, which i must stress, is the highest i've seen. reading this, sota? highest i've seen for the GT is ... yeah, exactly 430.. and it's been out a LOT longer

honestly, considering the IQ from reviews i've seen, i'd snatch up an XL for these kinds of prices, if i had the cash. i'd probably even sell it and get an XT when those finally become available and the price drops a little.

please remember, people, this card was JUST RELEASED. of course the prices are going to be high. however, they've already dropped, A LOT, and will continue to do so.

Actually..the x1800xt is a damned good product. I will definitely be waiting to see what ATI has for their next gen 18+ pipe cards. If they're gonna be taking the AMD route and going for clock for clock performance, that's the boat I wanna be on.

That's because the GTX had no competition. That's why Nvidia could charge that price. Oh well I'm sure there are plenty of dumb people that would pay that much and more for the XT.
