Any reason why you're turning off soft shadows?

I'm running FEAR with renamed .exe file 4xAA and 16x AF. 1280x1024 all max ingame settings. Game runs very smooth with my x1800xt card =]

    Rest of system:

AMD Athlon64 4000+ San Diego core OCed to FX-55 speeds
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI mobo
    2gb OCZ Platinum PC3200 ram
Sound Blaster X-FI Fatal1ty sound card

They look pants if you ask me...... Not a good implementation of soft shadows, thef def aren't worth the performance hit.....

Dunno, they gave a huge hit on my X800 XT PE, so when i reinstalled it with the XT i just turned em off as thought they would do the same, think ill check see what its like with em on now. :)

EDIT: Jsut tried with the Soft Shadows on, and its no different, exactly the same, awesome, no hit what so ever. :D

I run everything on max at normal resolution, with softshadows on, on my 7800 gt, its the 2 gigs of ram that makes alot of difference, alot of reveiws run on 1 gig.

Why do people try and play games on high res? it dosent make any difference.

Ahh just realised why theres no performance hit with the Soft Shadows on, they don't work with AA on, turn the AA off, and the Soft Shadows will work, but there is a huge performance hit.:(

@DethZero, if yor running with 4xAA on, then im afraid the Soft Shadows are not on, Turn the AA off to see the difference, there is a huge hit. :(

I'm not impressed with soft shadows anyway. Just personal opinion, but I think it looks like crap.

Neither would i tbh, the normal shadows look ok, they just have more sharper edges and are are more black. :)
