Loved X3 and played for ages, steep learning curve but well worth it. Worth mentioning the ambient music was really good, and you really felt involved in the game.

I remember lots of patching needed though on release so might wait a little while before I plunge in with rebirth.

Was a bit scared on the 1 ship to pilot when I heard of it, but the 'VR goggles' is just a way around it. I suppose they didn't want to have to design cockpits for each and every ship!

    I checked all 4 and I must say I'm impressed. :

I noticed its still dx9 though, but they said it was enough for gfx detail, they might use dx11 later.
And yeah it looks nice, I really like mining ice meteors :D

They probably used Directx 9 to keep the file size down to a respectable level too. Really looking forward to this, should last me well in to the New Year.

Some textures looked kinda LQ in those 4 pre-release videos, maybe that's why its only 4.4gb?

Edit: according to steam it needs 12gb, maybe its only compressed so much
Hard Drive: 12 GB available space

This director of X-universe said, they didnt saw the need of using dx11, all was possible in dx9. Maybe in the future patch, but idk if he mentioned what would be extra in dx11.

Multi-threading is now to the max, up to 64 threads. So this is very good imo, I've been waiting for this since first x3- universe. :)

So long as the game runs sweet I will be happy. If they did add Directx 11 and high res textures to everything it would have taken another 2 years to get it running smoother. It will look stunning, all X games do.

He basically said its up to us fans what we want in dx11 and then they will decide about its priority and stuff.. He said there is some nice stuff in dx11, but basically yeah all was possible in dx9 atm. :nerd:

edit: video teil4 has shooting action

smoking hot! wonder if modding is still in? They even compiled community pack which are mods made by the community and are deemed as good addon to their game in the past.

Gamestar journalist asked him about mods, etc more specifically steam workshop and he said its a possible option but not atm.

I really like how they listen to community, imo its no1 developer when it comes to this, he mentioned fans at least 10 times for sure for some specific things.

I read that mods are supported from the outset?

This is a great game to last us until star citizen comes out :)

DX9 can still look damn good. No point using DX11 if it isn't needed!

Only a few days now chaps/chapesses!

Does anyone know if we can walk around the ship during travel?

You might be able to. But it isn't a very big ship. I know you can look around the cockpit while sitting down though.

I'm hoping that my i5 can handle this game ok. Probably the biggest impact on performance will be the geometry LOD slider. Funny, I had a dream last night about this game and it was amazing but it ran like crap, lol.

Yep it can, although I dont mind x-rebirth to be dx9 though, the most important thing for me is multi-threaded engine and they delivered it to the max.
