Hi all. Strange problem just started with my wife's rig. After about 5 0r 10 minutes while gaming, there is a loud shreek in her headphones and the computer freezes. She has the X-FI Titanium Fatality Champion and there was no problem until recently. I did the driver routine,re-seated the card etc. and that did not help. I tried stero headphones in the front panel connecter and straight into the sound card. I also tried her 5.1 headphones plugged directly into the card wit the same sound issue. This does not happen all the time. After a computer re-start,she can game with no problem. The problem is intrmitent,so that leads me to believe the sound card is kaput. All help is super appreciated. It's driving my wife nuts! I must ffix this. Think she needs a new card? Thanks everybody.
having a "screeek" freeze can be anything, not just sound card easiest way to eliminate software cause, is to install fresh OS, sounds bad oc or bad drivers tho
Well I would advise trying Daniel K's drivers for a start. http://www.gamefront.com/files/14952787/XFI_SupportPack_2_0.exe/
edit: ^ hheh yea:nerd: try one of Daniel_K packs, maybe this Titanium CD http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=3671397&postcount=9 but before you do, uninstall everything like so 1) uninstall everything (all creative stuff - in installer) 2) delete all creative folders (app data - local and roaming; common files; normal creative folders - check for all) 3)run Driversweeper 4)ccleaner - registry cleaner to remove any leftovers 5) run Win7 manager registry cleaner (for final touch - there is a 15day trial) 5.1)ccleaner - registry cleaner again if win7 manager left some conflicts 5.2)reboot 6) install Daniel K Titanium CD +those drivers (if they're not so good, you can try these - http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4011256&postcount=63 ) but dont reboot do all these steeps from 1-5 in one go..
LOL you would have to pry my Fatality from my cold dead hands! I will run it until it dies. I have never had any major issues with mine(touch wood) Best investment in sound I ever made and not my first SB either got an Audigy 2 ZS, Audigy 2 and even and Audigy LS(that one is a joke tho much like the Extreme Music)
ahhh the audigy 2 ZS now that was a sound card i wish i didn't give mine to my bro when i got the x-fi
Thanks. I'm going to try the daniel k drivers. If that doesn't work,I have an X-FI Forte I could try. It uses creative drivers so I might have the same problem. What do you think?
I just thought of something. If it's a driver issue, how come she didn't have any issues before? Everything was fine for a couple of years. Do audio drivers deteriorate after time? I really am not looking forward to lugging her rig out to change sound cards. Thanks again guys.
Well you should have no issues using the Daniel K's on pretty much any X-fi outside of the "bastard" X-fi Xtreme Audio(I confused it with the Xtreme Music in my previous post)
Is it the PCI-E version? I just know in the past PCI versions had issues with IRQ's and those would cause "the Screech" crash on certain MoBo's
what you posted is this XFI_SupportPack_2_0.exe 11-19-2009 and what i posted was SB X-Fi Titanium PCI-E Install Disc 1.0 (unofficial 05/19/2010) although the driver yea is a little older by Titanium CD, but newer isnt always better. :nerd: Im at UAA1.5 with 2.14 driver @ win7 and it still runs fine.
One more question and I'll quit bugging you guys. Is the Creative Console Launcher included with either of the drivers? I want to be able to acess game mode and EQ settings etc.
I think I should mention that I uninstalled everything except the console launcher. Should I un-install that also? Sorry for all this. I just want to make sure I'm doing it the best way.
