Hello there: I'm planning to buy a new soundcard and I need some advice about X-fi elite pro or Auzentech Prelude which one offers better sound quality. If anyone can direct me to a review about this or give me an opinion. Thank you very much
I can't say whether the Elite Pro provides better or worse audio quality but judging by the specs and what I have heard from the X-Fi Prelude I would say that the Prelude is a brilliant choice for its price, considering its cheaper than the Elite Pro and potentially better sounding I'd say you'd be better off buying the Auzentech X-Fi Prelude
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_Blaster_X-Fi Check the "X-Fi Line up" section, you will see prelude at the top with 120db signal to noise ratio with the second best the elite pro at 116db signal to noise ratio You just dont get the following that the elite pro has - I/O Console - Remote control And really why do you need that. I love using my Sony remote on my receiver for multiple sony devices and well I guess thats just my opinion.
Auzentech speaks of "Part Specs" ( theoretical limits of the component ) http://www.auzentech.com/site/products/x-fi_prelude.php#specifications It does not practically attainable. CL speaks of practically "SNR". Total different things. e.g. the DACs of the elite Pro are better than the Prelude DACs. a good review of the Prelude: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/multimedia/print/auzen-prelude71.html
I would choose the Prelude. I have tried the Elite Pro. The only reason i returned it. Because of the crappy capacitors brand was Jamicons. So i bought the Prelude its a good card plus Quality of hardware like solid capacitors all over vs junk Jamicons. Bye
