While it is running on the Quake Engine, it's more accurate to say it's running on a highly modified version of the Darkplaces Source Port.

Found some secret system requirements which say:
Recommended Graphics card : Voodoo2 16MB (PCI only)

    Time to downgrade ;)

Yah, those were the days, I still remember my first Voodoo.

Now that was a night and day difference.

No 30% performance boost, no gimmicks, just a completely new (and far superior) experience and a performance differential that really couldn't be measured it was such a diametric enhancement.

Ah, same framework as Quake 1.5 for example then.

As we've shall I say expanded the discussion already, I think I just heard the best Doom aphorism ever:

"Doom is the alpha and omega, Doom is in my blood. When I have kids they're gonna come out circle-strafing!"

    :D still laughing :D

i think i might get bored because of the animations. That is the only thing that is really a letdown for me. gameplay wise and level design is pretty nice.

They should have just called it 90's computer graphics simulator.

I might ditch it from my wishlist though. The video explains there is a lot of backtracking, and to save you need to search for items.

That just reminds of when i tried Turok (2015 Remaster) a couple of months ago, that got me so frustrated.

The game also has normal checkpoints/autosaves. And from footage I've seen, and what I've been told, the Soul Tether's are rather plentiful so, as long as you explore the world, you will have plenty to keep yourself safe.
Also, the demo shown at Gamescon is an updated version of the one from PAX/E3. Which, IIRC, does not start at the beginning of the game.

But, 3DRealms will be making a really great announcement about Wrath pretty soon. :)

If i can't save manually it's pretty much a pass for me with any game these days.
