I have seen a SC2 test comparaison ... it's excellent, nearly no fps drop at all with this method of AA, and the IQ is really good.

I have basically only bought nvidia till the 5800 ati's, I was a little disappointed when unengine and Metro 2033 came out and Nvidia 480's where tearing up the tess and my ati's where......kinda weak. So i had planned on going back to nvidia (even though I really dont like em) unless ati did something about there tess and crossfire weakness. If the 6900's run like these only much faster I can happily stay with ati.

Anyone have any preferences? Is it just really about warranty for ATI cards?

The launch of the HD 6870/6850 series mimicks the launch of the HD 5770/HD5750, being slightly slower than previous high end generation, consuming less power and having a smaller die size, its is a quite accomplishment doing the same thing twice (HD 4670 didn't), also I saw that Crossfire scaling got improved.

So if we compare the relative performance of the HD 6870 vs the HD 5870 which has similar ratio like the HD 5770 vs HD 4870 (The last two ones are more evenly matched), means that the performance jump from the HD 5870 to the HD 6970 will be slightly smaller than the performance jump from the HD 4870 to the HD 5870. This is just guesstimate.

Would you think going from a gtx 260 oc'd (655Mhz) to a 6870 be a decent upgrade? If so, would it bottleneck my cpu?

    <-- Specs

    I also play at 1080P.

It will be a decent upgrade, you are far from being CPU bottlenecked, an HD 6870 is about 50% - 70% faster in average which is no slouch.

I game at 1080p as well. And I'm selling my 4890 (faster than your gtx 260) to get the 6870. Looks like it will take my fps that good bit further. It is looking to be a worthy upgrade. We even have the same cpu, mine is only clocked at 3ghz though :)

Go for it is I say!

I know that, just had enough of my 5970. After 5 version of ati drivers none where better then the 10.5. Just want to go single card again and maybe update to crossfire later if they finally know how to make some decent drivers :)
