well my ram<<< had to go back to the shop as they failed and i just got off the fone to them as its been like 2week and i was getting impatient and they said as they have not got mine instock to replace i could have any 1066mhz speed ram in place of my failed ones (even if they cost more)

so i i had two sets to chose from....

    Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x1GB)
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-119-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=817

    OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz Reaper HPC Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2RPR10662GK)
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-088-OC&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=817

and they are both approx £20 mpre than my old stuff so i chose the OCZReaper set as the have that nice cooler thing goin on DID I MAKE THE CORRECT CHOICE OUT OF THE TWO SETS?

<opinion> No, but its not like 1066 can't handle whatever speeds you want to use, but I would have got the corsair.

not much difference between the 2 although personal preferance would have been the corsair, but both are as good as each other, didnt think overclockers.co.uk would still be trading i heard they where going out of the game.

actually there is a very big difference between the two.the doms are now using qimonda ics rather than micron d9gmh.the ocz still uses d9gmh.so there is a massive difference between the oc potential of the two.
so yes you made a solid choice.

it depends on the revision of your old dominators.chances are they were d9 ics as corsair only recently switched.so the ocz should hit the same type of speeds and timings.

actually you never specified what your old memory was so i assumed you had the dominators.
i take it the ocz in your sig is the old memory not the new?if so they both use d9gmh so your results will again be much the same.

I personally like the Corsair Dom. 8500. I don't know seems like apples and oranges when you go to spend this kinda money.

Nevertheless, good for you dude, good RMA. :D

how hard would it have been to just type it in and confuse less people?

I still don't have a clue what ram you were refering to...

I'm not sure. I had to RMA my Reapers. I had two 1GB sticks of DDR2-800 and they caused all of my compatible PCs to keep rebooting.

Beforehand I would have went with the OCZ, but now I'd have to go with the Corsair. I have yet to have a problem with the Corsair brand and I have more of it and have been using it longer than OCZ.
