Would reformat require a reinstall of games that are on a seperate drive?

Pretty simple question. All my games are physically installed to a different hard drive than Windows is. So if I reformat, would that mess up my games? Any registry data that the games wrote would be lost, that's my only concern.

Yes, the registry data will be lost.
Although, a lot of games can still run without reinstalling them.

    What about this...

I opened regedit opened up HKEY_LOCAL_mACHINE
went to software, and individually backed up all my games entries. After I reformat I will, first, try playing the game, if it doesn't work, I can install its backup reg files, then if it still doesn't work, Ill delete the backups, delete the game, then reinstall. Any comments?

If it's just for the games and you do it individually you should be ok, remember some might have keys under HKEY_CURRENT_USER as well.

Running the games before you restore the reg keys likely means you will get a prompt for the cd key again (for all games that keeps it in the reg). I would then think if you entered the cd key the game would have to remake the reg key to store it, but it may not remake the full key with all info.

Alright, well I went ahead and reformatted. All games worked fine out of box. They also don't have any reg entries anymore, so it's that much cleaner. (Not that they made a difference)

Also the method I talked about with exporting reg entries, really isn't hard at all. It would be 100000x the effort of reinstalling. Double clicking a reg file, as oppsed to reinstalling 20 gigs worth of games.

Anyway, incase anyone has similar concerns, I guess they are unfounded. :)
