Hi just wondering is it worth upgrading, thinking of either 4770k or 4930k,
4930k probbely overkill just to use for gaming but would make it more futureproof though computer parts go outofdate fast, mainly use pc for gaming , main reason was for pci express 3.0 support which i heard doesnt give you that much perfmance gain for price your paying

    If it's just for Gen3 Pci-e support don't bother.

While I agree with Pill. I would venture to say your current CPU may be holding back your 7990. A 4770K would be an awesome upgrade for you but the refreshes are coming really soon, I would wait just a bit.

That i7 is the weakest of the entire i7 line. But with an oc of 4ghz it will be much better. I wouldn't do a full upgrade just for pci e 3.0.

Nah, the i7 860S is the weakest. The i7 870 is close to the i7 950 in performance for single GPU.
