Download the 10.4 drivers. Starting the install and then cancel it so the driver files are available, use the command prompt window to go to C:\ati\support\10.4[whatever name]\packages\drivers\display\W76A_INF\b_[whatevernumber] and then type expand.exe atioglxx.dl_ atioglxx.dll Then copy the atioglxx.dll file to the game folder where the game exe is or overwrite the 10.5's driver by copying it over the one in System32 (or syswow64 if you have a 64bit OS)

If thats too difficult then install the 10.4 drivers and copy the atioglxx.dll from system32 or syswow64 to your game then install the 10.5 or get a copy of the file from somebody else.

Credit to one of the mods (Spyre) over at the game.amd.com forums.

This worked well for me (Quakelive)

    Enjoy :)

uhh, a bit shaky instructions, but ok.

So, you think OpenGL on v10.4 series was better ?

The OpenGL driver in the 10.5 package breaks any of the older Quake 3 engine games badly.

yeah, I just finished testing it..

I tested on v10.4 A/B + 10.5 WHQL and 10.5a hotfix.. seems 10.4 corrects it yeah, but I'd actually suggest using the v10.6 (v8.740.0) drivers to fix this seems to boost performance too.

    atioglxx.dl_ (08.06.2010)
    and
    atiogl.xml (08.06.2010)

Here on forums just called 8.740.0 or 10.6 (17.05.2010). Tested it on 'Uniqine' benchmark seems to do damn well.

    -edit-

o the OpenGL profiles are on %windir% not on 'SysWOW64' (x64 systems) 'system32' (x86 systems).

    -edit2-

Might also point out to 'spyre' that the issue never was on dll on 10.5 it's in the driver code. So, replacing an dll doesn't mean it fully works as problem is what the dll is asking from driver is failing.

No need to start installing the drivers, as if you have 7-zip installed, you can just right click the downloaded file (instead of double clicking to run), and do an extract with that to unpack the folders/files, then you can just copy the files from the folders you want, across to where you want them, window to window (when you open the folders where you want them to go) :)

My Elite Force 2 was broken with .4 preview. I never did try it on the earlier ones.
