Just read on Polish site that the they are working on the next Witcher game. So far this is the only detail provided. Most likely we will see it around 2020 when the Netflix series starts.
There will definitely be another witcher game but it will not be witcher 4. Geralt being the main character is over. It will likely be another time period with a whole new set of characters.
I think with Cyperpunk being demoed at E3 they have their hands full with that game and Gwent. They aquired a new studio lately just to support Cyperpunk 2077 even further.
I never played any of them, too much dialog for me. Would play the hell out of them if i did enjoy so much story though.
They have stated, repeatedly actually. That the story of Gerald (Witcher 1 to 3) is over and completed. But they have also stated, they would return to the Witcher world and tell other stories within it. Honestly, I'm happy that they aren't milking Gerald and his character for all it's worth, and ended it on a high point.
Both studios are working on Cyberpunk. I highly doubt they are already working on Witcher 4 or any other Witcher game. Maybe they started a concept phase or collecting ideas, but thats it.
Yes, it ended on a high point with Geralt. Starting over in the same universe, but replacing all the characters, will likely end up in a mass effect andromeda situation...
Ditto. The high-point of the series was the first 2 games. This is my opinion and I know many don't share it. But the open world killed the game for me.
Good thing you stopped yourself there, because I’m sure you want other things with Ciri too (relatable) I also cannot see a W4 happening any time soon, but maybe they can make another expansion or standalone thingy to compliment the TV series. That’s gonna be sweet!
Fixed that for you my friend At some point they will do something new about the Witcher series, and it does sound logic that they try to use the TV show's marketing for the gaming too. Not sure they will make a new game though, as that seems a bit short of time when working on Cyberpunk2077 at the same time, be it one or two studious.
I'd like a Witcher game where I get to create my own Witcher, and form my own Witcher School. In the veins of Dragon Age: Origins. We'd act similarly to own Duncan (in DAO) went around to recruit potential Wardens, only this time it'd be us trying to recruit potential Witchers, create a team and eventually get to form our own Witcher School, with a proper HQ (Inquisition-style) and resolving all sorts of issues around as a team (Mass Effect-style) or solo, by choice. Give me something like that for Witcher 4 and I'm in.
Announced tomorrow: The Witcher Royale, a free-to-play pay-to-win battle royale game for Android and iOS but also ported to PC. Featuring a naked Ciri, of course.
Just started reading the books on which the games are based, lets out it this way within the first 5 pages he's already shagged someone and killed some local pains in the ass. So yeah thinks look like they could be quite good. As for a new Witcher game, awesome while it would be a shame not to have Geralt as the main protagonist, would be a little weird given my ending for W3 didn't look like things were ending well for Geralt. The world is so expansive with so many characters there is just so many other options they could go for. A young Vesemir could be quite interesting. Mind you it could be a while given that Cyberpunk still has to be released.
