I admire japanese principle of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it. SOP on launch looked like Nioh 2, which in turn looked like Nioh 1 which essentially was PS3 game late for the party releasing on PS4.
They are good games, sure but they sure do look ass by modern standards.

Dunno, the game is probably fun but it still looks dated as hell.

 

Cant wait for this Nioh game probably only game i bought on launch out side of FF7R in past 5+ years if not longer

 

Elden Ring looks dated, but its probably been the best game of the year so far.

It's Nioh again, i love how PS5 needs 30fps to push (near) native 4k

 

i like it, 60fps mode look nice and smooth little drops here and there, look uich nicer then nioh/2 i can see my self drop 100's if not 1000+ hours into it just like nioh/2

I know what i doing this weekend, after which i can go back to skyrim seeing i started new game there again

1080p/1440p internal @60>4k @ 30, 30 fps/res mode is unplayable to me just like it was in nioh/2

PS5 was never gona do 4k@60 with out checkboarding or some form of DLSS/FSR, Most people knew that going in. There is no gpu that can push 4k @ 60 on pc native in game like CP2077 atlest none that cost less then consoles prices. I pefrectly fine with 1080p/1440p internal res @ 60 fps, So long as there is pefromance/60fps I will pick that over res

 

CP2077 looks 3 generations ahead of this Nioh/FinalFantasySOP/NinjaGaiden3 rehashed game which is puzzling how bad the performance of the engine is that PS5 needs to be capped to 30fps to push near native 4k, it's wild how tiny the game spaces are for walking that 2 enemies can corner the player easily let alone a giant boss in small map that don't fit a Mario jumping around level.

 

Japanese gamedev has a constant shortage of programmers and issue with "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality taken to extreme.
Programmers are a scarce resource and as such they're only utilized to bare minimum and once project is up and running, they're moved to the next one while rest of the team finishes the game.

Besides handful of exceptions all japanese proprietary engines (or even their approach to off the shelf ones) are incredibly poorly design and dated, still not understanding even variable delta times or any scalability at all. The latter only became a concept in their minds with consoles having multiple SKUs so you couldn't just hardcode a single quality/resolution preset into a game and call it a day.

Koeis engine dates back to late PS3 era, where Nioh was originally intended to be launched, it got stretched over to PS4 where it finally did launch alongside Nioh 2 and Stranger of Paradise. Neither looking adequate and not running remotely close to how they should given their visual fidelity, with SOP being the worst offender by far as 120fps mode in that game is a meme and no hardware in existence can bruteforce through scenes with several million polygons at above 60 fps.

 

Tried the demo on the ps5 i am not really impressed with the game feels a bit like been there before. My last team ninja game was nioh 1 and thats enough really for me.
