hey guys, after beeing at a windows 8 pre-launch preview with my job. i noticed that the laptop used for the demonstration had 69% of its ram occupied, and then went on to ask the microsoft representative about how it runs he said that its less cpu demanding, but this time around rather more ram dependent what do you think should be the minimum requirement of ram in a gaming rig using windows 8? im starting to wonder if the 8 i have now start to pale and might become insufficient
I'm running Windows 8 Release Preview on my Dell Inspiron 14R laptop with an Intel Core i3 2.4GHz (Sandy Bridge) & 8GB RAM. I have 4 apps in "suspend" mode, Outlook 2010 & Firefox 16 w/ 6 open tabs running with just 2.0GB (26%) of RAM being used.
8 GB is the sweet spot, ram usage isn't really any different compared to 7. 16 GB and you can forget about everything.
If anything, wasn't it supposed to be that its RAM usage is actually lower than Win7? I think I've read an article in the past about that somewhere. CMIIW of course. True. Too bad the chipset on my laptop doesn't allow me to go more than 8GB. =/
its probably all the crapware running on the machine that so many computers seem to have running in the background
I'm running Windows 8 Pro 64Bit with 6GB of RAM, no problems whatsoever, if anything it 's a little better than Windows 7 with RAM
