Yes, I'm having issues with 21.21.13.7653 update, Nvidia control panel has vanished and I can't get the resolution to fit properly, also I can't revert to a previous drivers, because the installations always fails. It seems like the new windows update is blocking me from going back to a previous Driver for my GTX 980.

Download wushowhide.diagcab, DDU and Nvidia driver
    Disconnect from the network
Reboot into safe mode and do a cleanup with DDU
After another reboot install the driver
Reconnect to the network, run wushowhide.diagcab and hide the Nvidia driver if it finds one.

You can deny driver installations for hardware that already has a driver via a group policy.

Yes got the same driver forced update. Uninstalled with DDU and hide it with the tool mentioned above before reinstalling wanted driver.

Just a FYI, GPEdit only works in Pro and above version of Windows. So home users have to disable Hardware updates under System Properties.

    Navigate to Advanced system settings

    Select the Hardware Tab

Then tick No, let me choose what to do and tick Never install driver software from Windows update

    Hope this helps :D

this debateable some people say saying that setting dont stop it no more

    Are you talking about
"Computer Configuration>Administrative Template>System>Drivers Installation>Driver Installation restriction>Prevent Installation of Devices using drivers that match these device setup classes"

What is the GUID name we looking for anyway I just recently set this up and used the

    Device manager> "gpu name">proprieties>details>propety>Class GUID

ID to put in the above GPEDIT.MSC setting

Thanks for the tip Mineria, did what you suggested and so far so good with no forced windows Nvidia update. Was wanting to try out the other WU 376.74 but kept rolling back to .53.

How do you all get these forced Driver updates?

Is it maybe related to Windows 10 Home? Because i use Pro and never get them, even with the Option Enabled in Device Manager to fetch Drivers.

I use Windows 10 Home and have never had a forced Nvidia driver update through WU.

Got the same forced update myself. I had hardware driver update disabled.I was on 375.95 previously.

I read that after the anniversary update for win 10, you can no longer completely disable auto update. /shrugged

Went ahead and DDU'd and installed the latest hot fix drivers. Seem good for now.

i am on win10 pro with 376.33 driver
i avoiding 378.** because it killed my gtx780 lighting... so just for precautions i roll back every pc to 376

maybe you using latest nvidia driver (378.49 or 378.57) ?
as its newer than 376.53 thus preventing windows downloading older version

but i am hearing people getting the update even they using latest driver
so not sure whats going on

I have to retract my above statement as for the first time ever I have had this 376.53 driver install itself. Also with 3D etc., which I never install. :bang:

I went back through my WU history and this is the only time that a driver was installed.

Had the same issue yesterday W10 Home edition. It installed all the rubbish including sound through HDMI. That is how I noticed, when I had no sound on my system.
I have updates off in services so I check manually and have never had an Nvidia driver forced on me before. This is just plain wrong!

I'm on Windows 7, but for the future, is there an effective way to prevent this from happening?
