Hello, My Windows 10 start menu is not opening. I ran through all of these steps on this step-by-step guide provides on the different sites available on the internet. So no matter what I do, it will not open. I'm not ready to do a fresh install on Windows again because I'm in the middle of my college semester doing my Projects on this PC. Does anybody have a solution on how to fix this?

This is an old bug in windows 1904 / 1909 if i remember correctly.

    Clean install 2004 - 20H2.

Do you need to clean install it? It seems to me just installing the version update could fix it. I thought that bug only haunted the very first version of Win10. I experienced it personally back then, but I don't remember what fixed it. Maybe just some random update from Windows Updates.

try an alternate start menu program, like Start Menu 7

Maybe it even resets whatever wrong configuration is in the windows native start menu...

I personally use "StartIsBack", but this one is not free (it's cheap though, just $4)

You should be able to do a in-place upgrade install using the Updater Tool, which will install fresh and import your apps and data.

Yes, in place upgrade > keep everything, it will not delete any user data, basically it puts old windows in a folder called windows old and installs a new copy of windows and migrates user programs over to new copy of windows, once it's installed it's almost like you just restarted the pc and everything is where you left it.

Try this one, when installing just select the start menu part of it, unless you need the other things of course.

I'm using Classic Shell on 2009 also, every part of the start menu functions correctly, .. I've used Open Shell also, basically it's identical, it functions the same.

IIRC it won't be able to search within the Settings app on 1809 and later. Openshell updated it and some other bug fixes.

I use Start10. The license is cheap (I paid $4 on sale, and you get 5 installs), and it's maintained.

Make sure you have the updated Windows and you should be fine.
