From general point of view you should, since OEM drivers usually have priority over generic ones.
But you can ask a question somewhere in storage subforum.

Better.
Now you can try to limit first two USB controllers to 1 IRQ (in case you do not attach storage USB devices). It would be better to disable unused USB controllers in BIOS, but it is not that easy to identify them there.

And do not bother with priorities.

I see only multiple IRQs for one device - Realtek network card (in your screenshot of Device Manager). VoVranic had 3 network cards in his screenshot.
You better post screenshot of MSI mode tool for human readable list of devices.

Are you sure you used latest version of MSI tool? I mean I saw multiple IRQs for Realtek network card in Device Manager, but I see only one IRQ in MSI tool, while it should display multiple IRQs too.

All looks correct.
You can try to limit Realtek network card to number of cores in your CPU (column "limit"). But it is pure theoretical advise because it is hard to estimate the effect.

 

MSI режим лучше legacy режима,так что лучше включать.Но имейте в виду,что каждая установка драйверов NVIDIA откатывает видеокарту обратно в legacy режим.

С приоритетами лучше не заморачиваться.

Same here.. I'm just wondering if it's the MSI utility that's done that by editing registry.. seems weird that when I turn off MSI. they all end up using just 1 or 2 different IRQ.. 16 and 17.

 

Registry value "MSISupported" set to "0" - forcing device to not use MSI mode, - can`t specify which legacy IRQ to allocate for device. The result of IRQ allocations is on the OS P-N-P manager and device drivers themselves.

 

Ok I have some information i discovered after a lot of debugging.

Some may be aware that "some" gamers suffer from stuttering in the PC version of FF7 Remake.

I discovered in my case when I moved the game to a spindle the problem went 100%, but much longer loading times and texture quality issues.

I then moved to a SATA SSD and it came back but was only very minor compared to before. This recovered my loading speeds, as is the case with most games NVME has no visible benefit over STA SSD.

I also learnt from a modder the stutters can be mitigated by effectively throttling the loading speed of the streaming textures using unreal engine tunables. This led to an idea of lowering the interrupt priority for the standard nvme express controller. Low and behold the stutters almost disappeared, better than SATA SSD but not as good as spindle.

Has anyone else noticed benefits from lowering NVME priority?

 

Apologies if already asked and answered - I couldn't find it by searching - but should storage controllers which default to MSI always have a "high" priority? Specifically, SMI NVM Express Controllers.

I don`t know about NVMe controllers, but there is no need to set high priority to USB controller. And to videocard as well.

 

A lot of times NVM Express Controllers are set to high (mine are) but this depends on drivers.
I am using default MS drivers on a Samsung 980

 

Are you using microsoft nvme driver or OEM drivers for nvme?
