The Russian super-leaker Wzor, who by the way is uncannily correct in his predictions, has pegged announcements on both operating systems coming on July 13-17 at the Worldwide Partner Conference. Th...

How is Update 2 a new windows? It's a service pack. And if you're talking about Windows 9, 8 came out in 2012 -- 9 will launch probably end of 2015. That's 3 years and 3 years is extremely long when they are competing against OS's that have 6 month update cycles.

Stick with an old one if you don't like updates, plenty of old versions of windows that you can choose from

Updates 'generally' improve things, why would you not want that?

You don't have to get a new Windows if you don't want to, i won't be for a good while, as nothing wrong with 7, and there still won't be when a new Windows comes out.

I felt the same way until I saw Windows 8 performance and clarity.

Windows 8 definitely is faster and provides a much sharper, much more clear picture in 2D and 3D. Better colors as well.

My eyes saw it almost right away after going back to my Win7 machine.

I guarantee you though, that if I could not have my startbar, I'd have never made the switch.

Plus some of the newer games coming out run better in Win 8/8.1. BF4 is the big one and I play it a good bit.

As for these update packages. They mean almost nothing to me since I use a startbar solution anyway "Start8". I can do all they are claiming they want to do in which is now referred to as "Update 3".

So ehhhh....they can take their time unless we have a huge security issue, then they better hurry up.

The point of the 'Updates' isn't to add new features specifically. They actually act as mini-service packs, and include not only all previous Windows Update released updates, but also hotfixes (which you can't get through Windowsupdate or Windows Download) and other small bugfixes and tweaks.

In other words, they're basically an essential update :).

That is why I said, "unless we have a huge security issue". So you are trying to tell me something I already know. :)
