    Yeah, noticed that.

Would be handy if you could just sign up for a key valid only for that version, as i don't see many of us maxing our connections

OK so apparently there are two versions of the beta, a CHK release and a FRE release. CHK release is loaded to the top with debug settings in the background. FRE still has debugging going on but much less then the CHK release. The one available on torrent sites (X64) is definitely the FRE release. But I'm not sure about the X86 versions. Either way I guess when these things hit RTM they'll be even faster as debugging tools like Preftrack will all be removed/disabled.

oh, 30 days...then guess i dont need the key. i almost have the iso but thought i'd have to wait for the key. a week or two of heavy use to test it out is good enough for me. if it'll be worth its price i'll just wait for the real thing.

I rarely run Vista with a product key....I can usually crash it within 30 days. Really no reason to run a beta with a product key....chances are it'll be installed more than once due to crashes.

indeed, two versions...what does checked build means? also why it does not have "how to protect mp3 files" instructions?

A checked windows build has a bunch of debug features going on in the background. It allows developers to run their software and utilize some of the features to see where issues are occurring.

Both beta builds have debugging in them though.

so a beta key can only be used in 1 install? if so, I think I'll stay with orbit30's patch.

I just want a key so i can report bugs, i genuinly like this OS so far and with another year of improvement it could be even better.
Noticed im having trouble with system restore since i installed Virtual CloneDrive, and as VCD sets a restore point when you try to uninstall it, its being a bit of a fecker at the moment.

There are links for direct download of both the x32 and x64 versions of the beta here:

    http://blog.wired.com/business/2009/01/windows-7-publi.html

It took me about 45 minutes to download. Now all I need is a key.

Here are the Hashes for the x64 version I downloaded:

    MD5:773FC9CC60338C612AF716A2A14F177D
    SHA1:E09FDBC1CB3A92CF6CC872040FDAF65553AB62A5
    CRC-32:8E2FAD39
