Hey Gurus. I've been having an issue with Win7 ever since I got back from my Holiday (and reading about the Spectre and Meltdown while there...). Tried updating it, but I'm getting the message in the photo: Windows update process is running, but BITS is not. I can't force it to start in task manager, but I can through the services menu in the control panel. I've done several full system scans with Avira and Malwarebytes - both come up clean, as does TDSSKIller... Tried pinging windowsupdate.microsoft.com - nothing. I've tried all the common ways of fixing this I can think of/have googled, but I get the same message in control panel. Time for a reinstall? Or is there another solution? Ta BLEH!
If you cannot ping the microsoft servers, there may be a problem with your DNS settings. Try using https://use.opendns.com/
Got any anti-telemetry programs installed that could be stopping that service and blocking MS sever ping?
Managed to fix it somehow... Couldn't use the repair tool because Win7 doesn't recognise my USB2 KB and mouse, so tried in windows, with the update option ticked and that seems to have fixed it. @Extraordinary Not that I'm aware of. I first thought it might've been Malwarebytes, but after uninstalling that, that wasn't the issue. If it happens again, I'll let y'all know. Otherwise I'm nice and up to date
@ BLEH! good to know that you solved issue and I have one sugestion search on Google something about Updatepack7R2 this website is Russian but is not problem only use QTranslate for this and you are free a lot issues related to updates including telemetry trust me dude
