Thanks for this. I'm glad your smiling at us having to pay a lot more for something. nice one. And I don't think any european consumer voted for this....it's not like they held a referendum or anything.
Yeah. Please just leave the politics (Europe vs. USA, etc.) out of this. I don't want to see this turn into a flame war.
You mean I'm the only one here who went to the continent-wide polling stations to vote for the EU to fine MS?
+1 , can't remember voting on that or anything else for that matter we even voted against a eu bill , it still got pushed trough , you can vote but we don't listen (maby this sounds familiar to you to) i've come to this conclusion you have three main cathagory of people 1 the working man one step worse 2 the criminal the worst of the worst , the rejects of the criminal circuit 3 the politician
i was curious about it, but if you can have any MS OS on any amount of computers with no restrictions then its certainly far cheaper in the long run than to buy 1 retail disc where i'm stuck using it on 1 computer. so there must be a catch? do the activations for each key expire or something? if their keys are the same as retail, i'll buy a subscription cause i wouldnt mind W7 on all my computers which would save me some money. I already spent 3x's that amount to have vista on all my stuff and moms computer.
same here.. don't wanna pay that amount for a retail disc and key, if I can get the technet and an unlmited ammount of keys for the same prize.. Just unsure if it's really that way..
The only thing i come up with searching is that they call them "Evaluations" but appear to be for an indefinite time? I just want specifics, can i use the key forever as if its retail? does it expire if my subscription to technet does? if so, then how come everyone doesnt have a subscription, i mean why even have retail?
You aren't really supposed to use Technet accounts as your OS. It is only supposed to be used as like...testing purposes for developers.
Well, here's how that is going. MS's Technet site is having major issues with people ordering it online. It's an issue between validation on windows live and their secure server. Hilarious! And, this is not the only subscription service having issues. So anyhow, after that epic fail, I ordered it on NewEgg saved $50. So I get the subscription and go to activate it...Oops...no workie! Activation is broken...ahahahah. So this morning, I call to activate....Oops! On vacation...ahahahahaha...This is just plain ridiculous for a company of this size to have so many issues on a basic level considering their big push to become a the online productivity portal. At least it was nice of them to put this nice notice after I sent them an relatively polite nastygram. Sheesh...
So you can legaly get fully working keys for all the software, which don't expire right.. hmm.. they don't know I'm not a developer
Most products from the 'oh-so-called' high tech market cost more on EU than on USA, for no good reason (plenty of companies do have plants to produce in Europe, so shipping ain't a reason either). There's no logic behind it and it comes from a long way in the past, and it stays as a not too clever thing to do. But then again, no one formally complains. It might be we are so damn rich here in EU ;x On the Windows 7 topic : While I expected such pricing (same as Vista actually, so I don't know why the news are so sensationalist ), it's a reason to put me off... For that price I have a pretty decent 2nd card on my system. If it had the same price as in USA (even if you convert 1€-1$ it would be cheaper than it is now) I would not think much about it.
Does anyone know what Win7 will look like price wise in Switzerland and which Version will be shipped? I mean we're not in the EU but still europe...
