A site called Win states that Microsoft will release Windows 7 SP1 RTM on MSDN on February 16th followed by a general web release RTW on February 22nd. For regular consumers SP1 will not add any new...

Well, service packs shouldn't include new features in the first place.

I disagree, imagine if XP had never got support for drivers over 137GB with SP1 or SATA support in SP2.

Aahahahahahaha why would you have to pay? Anyway all windows versions have had service packs, it's nothing new.

XP had 3 service packs, I don't remember paying for any of those.

It's up to microsoft to fix bugs they left behind : P
Service pack is pretty much packet of updates, which couldn't be separated and downloaded individually since they all affect system files and majorly affect it.

People downloading updates every week, perhaps without realizing it.

I can't believe how 'out of the loop' I feel now. Good thing I dropped by, else I'd never know when SP1 would be coming.

I wonder, though, as to what fixes it could contain...

This SP1 is basically a compilation of all updates released to date, so nothing special.

    http://windowsteamblog.com/windows/...windows-7-and-windows-server-2008-r2-sp1.aspx

Also for those wanting it..the build string for the RTM as stated by Microsoft is 7601.17514.101119-1850

As for what it has.. mostly update rollups however, just remember that each and every single Service pack ever released from Win2000 and up has always had some sort of performance increase. The RC1 release has already shown to have some improvement on load/unload time of the OS so I expect the same on the full official release.

I think you're reading Server 2008 R2 as RC2. It says RTM on those dates in the passage you quoted.

I don't expect anything nearly is crucial as Sp2 was for Xp, but I can't see any reason not to go for it either.

I'm not saying it isn't an issue, i'm merely stating it's not happening for EVERYONE. In fact that's literally all I said. :3eyes:

Correct and there is a work around but from my understanding the leaked build is the final build based on the official string #

I would imagin the issue that a few are having are caused by 3rd party software issues that the SP effected and/or enhanced.... do a full reload then SP install and it likely wouldn't have the same effect.

It was a leaked version, so it might have issues. Can't be mad that a leaked version of it had an issue.
